This was my first trip to Roatan and I was on a budget. I did a lengthy research on different hotel booking sites and Bananarama consistently had good reviews. I was not looking for a luxury hotel, just a place that was clean, safe, with good service and right in-front of the beach. Bananarama Resort definitely delivered. I loved the no-frills, relaxed environment and vibe. My room (#7) had two beds in two separate areas giving it a mini apt feel, it was clean, comfy and AC worked perfectly (also a ceiling fan in each room). Bathroom was a decent size, with hot water. There was a sewer kind of smell at times and I solved it by covering the sink and shower holes with towels, also kept the toilet seat down. Not the best issue for a hotel to have, I know, but I think it’s across the area because I went to the fanciest hotel in West Bay (Kimpton) a few times to enjoy some guest passes and their bathrooms had the same sewer smell.
Best part of Bananarama is their staff: receptionist, waiters, bartenders, etc. They are so warm, welcoming and helpful. Bartender Jose prepped killer piña coladas for me every single day, and my son loved the pancakes, burgers and pizza (so good). They prep traditional Honduran food too and it was delicious. The beach is right at the front and it was just gorgeous! If you’re looking for a relaxed, chill resort but safe for you and your family, stay at Bananarama!
