We checked out after being there an hour. Room conditions are not good. However I will say the front desk manger was accommodating and kind. They understood they quality is not where it should right now and to come back after renovations are done. I don’t recommend at this time. I’m quite frankly surprised at all the 10/10 reviews…. Hotel was under construction and I was not notified prior to booking my reservation, instead I was told once I checked in. I was thinking I was going to get a renovated room! I was given instruction of how to get to my room, down a hallway, turn right into the next wing, etc. I passed through new carpet, freshly painted bright white walls, and nice lighting. My room was not in that section. My area was dark, not bright lighting, the shower had a busted pipe above the ceiling and was leaking through the ceiling (paint falling off and soaked backer board -- mold???) and the fire alarm was missing.

Staff support was good. I was not notified the property is under renovation and required a long walk to get to the room completely across the hotel. The “breakfast” is absolutely the worst excuse for food I have ever endured. I stay at this hotel periodically and it has always been awkward but this combination is unacceptable.

The room was clean, shower was hot and bed was cozy. The proximity to many restaurants, bars, shopping and sites is convenient. Parking garage is steps from the hotel in case you wish to avoid using valet. By the way there was a younger guy working when we arrived, had a few interactions with. He was super cordial and helpful although we were not using valet. FYI: please note there is a distinction between Hyatt House & Hyatt Place, which you have booked while determine how far of a hike from the elevator to your room is. Appears this property is being renovated in stages. Just something to keep in mind. There is no microwave in the room (maybe I misread when reserving) but there is one in the lobby. The stay did not meet expectations, as our sleep was interrupted 2 mornings in a row due hours of constant noise (drilling is my best guess) occurring within the hotel near are room. Called it in to the front desk, was gaslit and told there was no drilling or work going on in the hotel—the likely source (per the front desk person) is construction at a nearby building. He refused to validate my concern, directed me to call back if it continues. Called back a while later and spoke with a manager, who said he’d send someone to check it out. There was no follow up. At check out, told them the stay was not good due to the noise. No action was taken on their end. This level of service is a missed opportunity. Prob won’t return.

The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast and the different variety each morning. Construction in and around the building was a little inconvenient but didn’t cause much of a problem. The hotel is located in perfect walking distance to all shops and restaurants in the Charleston Historic District. We would stay here again.
