Beautiful historic hotel with many unique features including a skeleton key. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The breakfast provided was an added bonus and there are quite a few options available. Some common amenities were not available like coffee in the room; however, it is available in the lobby 24/7. The hotel has a zero tolerance for noise which I greatly appreciated. It was very quiet and I experienced no disruption from anyone either staff or guests. The housekeeping service was the best I have ever experienced. My stay was for a week and each day the service was customized for my particular needs, leaving fresh towels, soap, etc. I felt very comfortable here and would definitely visit again!

The hotel has a real character and sense of coziness that you just don’t expect or find very easily. First, Marion is a small, but historic town off of Interstate 81 and the General Francis Marion is right in the middle of a small fairly well preserved down town. It is just a few miles off the interstate. The General Marion is small, with period charm, the rooms, while not gigantic are well appointed, clean and comfortable. Loved the lobby, the staff and the Swamp Fox restaurant (that was General Marion’s nickname). We’ll definitely be back again!

The room accommodations were fine, but the breakfast was terrible. For the price we paid, I expected a much better breakfast. It was cheesier than some much cheaper hotels we've used. I would not go back for that reason alone.

The hotel is not senior friendly and I saw mostly seniors staying there. Steps to climb at every turn, one railing was lose. I saw a senior lady fall on the steps going up to the check-in counter. The bathtub/shower in our room did not have any grab bars and the tred pads were practically non-existent in the tub. One had to be very careful not to fall and careful with the water temperature, too. It started off cold, and suddenly got extremely hot. No hair dryer either. All hotels have hair dryers these days. For the price of the hotel, the breakfast was disappointing, too. A few choices, yes, but nothing hot and delicious. Parking was good. The parking deck is a life saver for your hotel.
