The downtown area of Chattanooga is absolutely charming. The hotel location is within walking distance of many cozy shops as well as the aquarium. And the hotel itself is quite clean and presents well. Unfortunately, that's where the charm ends.
There is parking available at this Holiday Inn, but it's mandatory valet parking at $25/day per vehicle. This wasn't mentioned on hotels.com, so take that into consideration when booking. Also, the valet attendants will NOT greet you when you arrive - they will simply look at you as if you just landed from a UFO. This makes checking in confusing and frustrating if it's your first visit.
The rooms were spacious and clean and the view was decent. Also, the beds were comfortable. However, there was no exhaust fan in the bathroom which left a concerning amount of condensation on the ceiling. The televisions only used cable, which gave a nostalgic early 2000s feel that quickly faded in the evening after 30-minutes (20 of which were commercials).
And finally, the food. Breakfast is available in the morning for $15 per person. But the breakfast is some of the worst food I've ever had in my entire life. The coffee was cold and burnt. All the food was cold. The eggs were obviously powdered eggs with a poor attempt to make them seem fancy. The biscuits were stale - even the cereal was stale. The server was very sweet and attentive - She was probably embarrassed by the quality of the food.
Anyway, there are other hotels in the area to stay.
