Beautiful hotel, excellent location on the beach. The local town is an hour hike over rocky terrain - enjoyable if you have the fitness level and the weather is good. BUT if you do not want to do the hike, there is very little public transport and the hotel charge 17 EUR each way! The journey takes 5 minutes in a car. The hotel should really have a free shuttle service running at regular intervals. 17 EUR feels like a ridiculous price for the journey and they charge it per room even if the journey is shared.

Blue Sands Resort is THE place to stay on Folegrandos! The location was perfect for us as it is situated on a beautiful beach, away from the hustle and bustle of Chora (the main town) but still close enough (45 minute walk, 5 minute drive) to the center of town. This makes the experience of staying there calming and serene while also offering easy access to the amenities of the town. There are a few restaurants around the hotel as well as at the hotel so you have everything you need. An incredible breakfast spread is provided every morning on the beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean - sublime! The staff are very professional and friendly and will provide you everything you need. The rooms are immaculately clean. Lastly, the free shuttle service to and from the port helped us arrive and depart without stress. 10/10 would stay here again!

Hit or Miss

I stayed in a large group, so I was able to see numerous room and hear different prospective on this hotel. This hotel is located at an absolutely amazing location. It overlooks a cove with a sand beach and a short walk from a very private (clothing optional) sand beach. The rooms vary, I had an "upgraded" room, it was smaller and has less amenities than a cheaper "standard" room. The rooms are about 14 sq meters (150 square feet). And the bathroom is about 1 sq meter with a tiny shower. There is no wifi, the staff initially made excuses based upon the weather, but after 3 beautiful days they finally admitted the hotel always has very poor internet. Other hotels in the area has usable wifi. It is likely a simple hardware issue. The hostess I found to be very rude, others in the party also found her to be very rude. However, she went out of her way to be kind to others. I would explore other hotels before booking this one, there are some unbelievable options to choice from a short drive away.

THIS HOTEL SHOULD BE NAMED: SEWAGE SANDS Our two days at the Blue Sands Hotel were a total mess. The room smelled awful, and the staff treated us terribly. Do not stay here until they learn how to run a hotel and treat people with respect. Day One: The Awful Smell and The Rude Manager Our trip started with a ruined, sleepless night because of a terrible smell of human waste in our room from a broken pipe at the hotel. When the front desk opened at 9AM we spoke with the manager Mirela. Together we went to smell our room and she agreed it was bad, saying, "I’ve never smelled a room like this before, this is bad." They moved us to a new room, but that was the least they could do. A simple room change is not enough for such a horrible start to our vacation. They didn't even say sorry or offer our money back. When we asked for a refund, Mirela was very rude and laughed at us, saying she had "done more than enough." She acted like she didn't care at all about our terrible night. Day Two: Everything Broke The new room was just as bad. It had many problems: • The shower had no water pressure and no hot water. • The fridge leaked water all over the floor. • The air conditioner poured water down the wall, making a big puddle that soaked our luggage. To top it all off, we were supposed to check out at noon. But starting at 11:00 AM, staff kept banging on our door and calling us to make us leave quickly.

Très bon séjour ! Le personnel est adorable, un service de navette avec le port est proposé (et compris dans le prix) et il y a des équipements à disposition pour la plage ce qui est très appréciable. Nos alojamos dos noches y la experiencia fue muy buena. La habitación era muy amplia, con un baño grande, muchísimo espacio de armario y una pequeña zona de salita con un sofá muy cómodo. La terraza también era enorme y, para nosotros, uno de los mejores rincones de la habitación. Tenía una zona con mesa y un banquito tipo sofá y, al otro lado, dos pufs tipo tumbona con cojines que se adaptaban al cuerpo, una mesita y sombrilla, todo con vistas al mar. Una maravilla para sentarse un rato a descansar. Otro de los puntos que más nos gustó fue el desayuno. Hay una parte de buffet y después puedes pedir platos de huevos a la carta, que estaban riquísimos. La zona de desayunos además es una terraza abierta, con espacios de sol y de sombra y unas vistas preciosas al mar. Un auténtico espectáculo empezar así la mañana. Las dos chicas que nos atendieron durante los desayunos fueron además encantadoras. Otro detalle que nos pareció especialmente cómodo es que, aunque el check-out es a las 11:00, en la planta de abajo tienen una zona con baños y ducha que puedes seguir utilizando. Nosotros no teníamos el ferry hasta las 15:30, así que pudimos aprovechar la mañana en la playa, volver al hotel, darnos una ducha rápida y después marcharnos directamente al puerto. Nos pareció un servicio súper práctico. Muy buena opción para alojarse en Folegandros y especialmente si buscas estar cerca del mar. (Tienen servicio de traslado ida y vuelta al puerto incluido en el pago de la estancia).
