We stayed here for two nights during carnaval. The hotel is beautiful and in a perfect location in Santa Teresa. The hosts are so warm and friendly, they really looked after us and it was so nice to meet them! Highly recommend

Very unique accommodations that's part of an art gallery. The proprietor (Thelma) and staff (Mateo) were both amazing and friendly and we chatted (via google translate). Thelma also made a beautiful breakfast!

The property is in a great location, staff are smaxing rooms are beautiful and very uniwue. You will be amazed at the breakfast . This would be the only place I would stsy in Rio. The area is very safe. We were there during csrnival as Santa Terese was fantastic location for this. You can walk to most areas of interest.

Apart from being centrally located in a historic neighborhood with a lot of artistic flare, the staff are very welcoming here. I thankfully arrived to the hotel when there was an art walk. It was great to be there and visit all of the galleries, that the Modernistas Hotel participated in as well. I highly also suggest having the breakfast. It is really good! The staff were also really nice to provide us with clean towels every day and recommendations for what to visit in the area.

What a fantastic hotel/gallery! This was an awesome base for our trip to Rio! It was our first time in Brazil and the people at this hotel were helpful in terms of where to go (and where not to go), experiences and highlights only locals would know about, recommendations! The breakfast (optional) was a three course event every morning that was the perfect start to the stay! Also this is a safe and nice and quiet area which is also another reason I would strongly recommend this place! Santa Teresa is a very pretty neighbourhood and if you like art/culture you cannot pass up the opportunity to stay at this hotel!!!!

Infested with mosquitos!

The hotel is cute as it's located inside a gallery, but it's infested with mosquitos. We woke up every morning covered in bug bites. It was the only terrible hotel experience of our three-week trip. We got bitten nowhere else in the country except in this hotel so going back to our room was repeatedly unpleasant. Told the owners about it and they accused us of making it up. We would never stay there again.

My room was accessible in the foyer-like lobby adjacent to the art gallery. The door appears to be an extension and people may try to walk-in so best to look your door with a little turn-key in a key hole. My room was large and fit a king bed with room for a night stand a a desk. The bathroom was sizable also. There's a door covered in small mirrors that open to a very cute private patio. Also there are literary quotes printed on the walls from a popular author.

Hidden fees if check in late. Not only that while it is eritter R$50 for late check in, owner is not shy to charge $100 or more depending on customer. No one is available after 6pm and so you are on your own. Own claims to cancel my pre paid reservation eithout proper refund. Even Expedia still showed reservation to bevthere and that means that it is not acserious business or basically a scam depending n who you are. Nightmare, just avoid it at all costs.

Proposta interessante porém entrega pouco

Tudo começou com a insistência de saber a que horas faríamos o check in. Eu havia informado um horário, mas ocorreu um contratempo e tive que chegar mais tarde. Recebi um whatsApp informando que me esperariam até às 15:00, quando na semana anterior, eu havia confirmado e o check in ia até às 17:00. Informei o contratempo e me responderam: "ok!". Chegando lá, fomos instalados na suite Tarcila do Amaral, supostamente temática, mas só tinha um imã de geladeira do Abaporu... de resto era um quarto normal. O check in foi feito às pressas, pois não me solicitaram preencher nada... Saímos e voltamos para dormir. Na manhã do Check out, uma funcionária revolveu bater papo às 8:00 da manhã na porta do quarto... o som parecia dentro do nosso quarto.

Estadia rápida apenas para dormir.

O estabelecimento está em boas condições, tudo dentro do quarto funcionando (ar, tv, chuveiro e etc). Para quem não conhece o bairro, Santa Tereza, não é de “fácil acesso” e tive dificuldade de locomoção na minha chegada (20:00) pois os Uber’s não aceitaram a corrida e todo taxista quer ir sem taxímetro alegando a dificuldade em subir, a proximidade com o aeroporto Santos Dumont e alegando que o bairro é perigoso durante a noite. Então isto deve ser levado em consideração dependendo do tipo de viagem que vai fazer ao RJ, para sair de lá tem que ser de carro. Precisei cancelar a segunda diária por esse motivo e achei que poderia ter sido melhor atendido pelo proprietário, mas no final tudo foi resolvido. Outro detalhe que deve ser observado ao realizar a reserva é o horário do check in, até às 18:00, ou seja, é um detalhe que no geral ninguém lê e se não podem fazer check in em qualquer horário não deveriam deixar disponível nos sites de locação como disponível para reserva. Então, atenção quanto ao seu horário de chegada para não ter esse tipo de dificuldade.
