We loved our stay here. We loved the simple Tongan style accommodation. There are only 3 fales set in beautiful tropical gardens where guests are allowed to pick their own pawpaw and coconuts. It is private, secure and quiet, set beside the best snorkelling beach in Tonga with the use of kayaks. The coral is amazing to the right of the beach but you need to be careful to go when it’s calmer and lower tide. We saw whales swim past from the family unit we were staying in. The flying foxes (bats) visit the section each evening. We recommend hiring a car as you are 30 minutes from town and this allowed us to see the sights. Papiloa is an amazing owner and was incredibly informative and friendly. Our 8 year old daughter loved her too.

Fiona was very helpful and efficient. The Fale is right on the beach - although you do have to go through 2 locked gates - which seemed a bit pointless as you could easily get onto the property without going through the gates! The swimming right in front was beautiful. The Fale had everything we needed - was perfect for us.

Very Quiet Beach House With Good Beach Access

This is a great place to stay if you want a quiet out of the way place. Fiona loaned us a cell phone because she was not sure the land lines were working, yet. She also gave us a hot spot to use for internet. We were the only ones there. The other two fales were not occupied. There is no air conditioning, but we did fine with all the windows open and fan running. They also provide kayaks for your use. We took them out and had lots of fun watching the fish. It was a great place to stay.

Loved it!! It's like staying in you own little cottage with beautiful view and beach right infront of your door step. Nice quiet location if you like privacy with your partner. Your room facilities has everything you require like being at home. Love wake up hearing the waves and seeing the sunrise and sunset. Love love!! Didn't want to leave, was one of the gem hidden beaches in Tonga. Thank you will go there again for sure!

Fabulous beach stay but double check your booking

We booked and paid for both fales in February for our holiday in July, but when we arrived at the airport we were told there was a double booking! However, our hosts did a lot to try and make up for this and we appreciated their efforts. The first part of our holiday was instead spent at White Sands Beach resort, which, while very nice was not the fabulous beach at Ha'atafu. But we were given a van to be able to drive about and get to Ha'atafu from White Sands. Then we moved to new accommodation our hosts had constructed behind the two fales we had booked - great to be at the right beach and in a new two bedroom unit (although there were a few plumbing and water problems)! .
