The room was really clean, it had a microwave and fridge. The bathroom was really clean too. The location is amazing, next to things such as Iceland, the Range and a few other big chains. We had a heating problem of which the receptionist and house keeper helped us out within 10 mins of raising the issue. Would defo stay again.

No problems with the staff at all. Room was our main gripe - smallest we’ve ever stayed in. Shower room also tiny. No facility for breakfast but you can go into the adjoining cafe. No car parking but the car parks behind the Abbey are available if you risk a £100 fine..!! (Staff said nobody had received a fine in 7 years to their knowledge). So best for an overnight stop in my view..

Passable but had issues that were ignored

Checked in early evening, receptionist was friendly and advised that the hotel is only manned between certain hours (3pm to 11pm I think). Room was fairly clean if a little worn. Bed was ok, mattress was too soft and pillows not particularly thick. Room was very warm but a fan was provided for cooling which was much needed. The real problem hit in the morning when I attempted to have a shower. The water was scalding hot. After messing with it for a good 10 minutes I learned that I could only make it hotter, not colder. It was so hot that I couldn’t even splash myself with it to have a decent wash. Called reception and they were closed - obviously, nobody works here outside of check in hours. Complained to both the hotel and hotels.com and asked to be refunded/compensated for the inconvenience but was fobbed off.
