"The Hole in the wall is gone, we were limited to only eat at Slim Pickens. A lot of renovations going on, parking is VERY hard to find now."

"This was a motel, not a hotel. Had I known that I wouldn’t have booked for personal safety reasons. Which leads to if you’re not familiar with the area, it’s not the best. The pictures of the room were better than it was. It looks like they had remodeled and done so very cheap and poorly. I couldn’t believe the extra grout just slabbed in places in the shower. The only saving grace were the pillows and the bed being decent. "

"The Hotel San Carlos is like a museum. It has an old timey feel to the place. Yet it is well maintained. I thought the Hotel oozed character. There was no refrigerator, and the air conditioner was on the whole time, that I had no control over. Sometimes it actually was too cold. The internet was sketchy. There was a sign on the elevator Informing guest that there were issues with the internet, particularly on the upper floors. So, you might want to try to get a room on the lower floors. I was on the top floor which was the seventh floor. But I loved the place. For the price it was a great deal. Also, the Hotel San Carlos has suites like the Cary Grant and the Mae West and Marilyn Monroe which are not available from Expedia and Hotels .com etc. etc. Those suites have to be booked directly thru the Hotel San Carlos. I had the opportunity to see The Marilyn Monroe Suite. It was really nice. Many actors stayed at the San Carlos back in that era."

"It took 20 minutes for a front desk person to check me in"

"This is the worse hotel stay ever. First off there is a computer in the lobby with a person on the other end to help you check in. How in personable. This place was filthy outside (trash everywhere in stairways, etc.) and the room wasn't much better. We didn't have a blanket, towels, or even a trash can. We had to ask for them. This is advised as a NON smoking room. The stink of smoke was so bad, that we had to go buy Febreze and spray it everywhere, more than once. When we get home, everything we had on the trip stunk of smoke. There were holes in the walls, a chip and a crack in the window. Trash in the cabinets, and food in the frig from other people. There was dust and grease on the wall and ceiling in the kitchen area. The floors hadn't been cleaned in a long while. The bed even had a broken leg. No sweeping or mopping. the cleanest place was in the shower. "
