Very comfortable rooms and setup, friendly staff and CONVENIENTLY located at the heart of Japan town, walking distance to Fillmore st with access to the bus and easy to get in and around town. "A nice, conveniently located hotel near Fisherman’s Wharf — assuming that is where you want to be based in San Francisco. By local standards, the area is better than most and only minimally affected by the city’s otherwise rampant homelessness issues. The hotel itself is clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed, with a few charming touches that make it memorable, including the stuffed crab souvenir I ended up bringing home for my daughters. "This hotel was exactly as advertised. A very nice 2-star hotel in the heart of the city. I valued the great location, large clean rooms with 2 king beds, free parking and a courteous front desk team who was likely the owners. There wasn't too much else to it nor did there need to be. I can find my own breakfast and coffee with all the great easts nearby... don't need another 2-start hotel breakfast buffet. Next time I need a night in the City, I will definitely look to return."

"It's very close to Union Square. It was exactly where we wanted to be for the Chinese New Year's Parade which was our goal in visiting San Francisco. We had lunch earlier in the day at Johnny Foley's and before checking out we had breakfast at Sears Fine Food. Then we spent an hour in beautiful Chinatown and did some quick shopping. BTW, the weather was warm to our amazement. Yes, I highly recommend the Handlery even if the pool is under construction."
