Velero Beach Resort
2/10 Terrible
"The room was nasty, roaches all over the desk and tv console & the bathroom as well. The only reason we stayed is because we had no car to leave. We barely slept & kept waking up to kill roaches. We kept our clothes and toiletries in our suitcases. The shower was full of previous guest hair and moldy. The excuse from the front desk was that this room had been blocked and they gave it to us anyway. Unacceptable!!! We did like the restaurant staff, food was ok views were nice from that area. "
"So for a 3 star hotel this was pretty good for the Caribbean. Staff were great and place was clean with a very comfortable bed. Aircon was ok. It never seemed to get really cold. The ceiling fan with the aircon though was good enough. Breakfast was also great for a 3 star. Freshly cooked as you order. Also had a few evening meals which was also decent quality and well presented Nice pool area which was always quiet. The hotel is in a great location for Sosua close to the bars etc. have to say though if I were to stay in DR again soon , and unless you want to be specifically in Sosua , I would stay in Cabarete. The beach bars there and far superior and a much better atmosphere. The town bars and mainly still pretty rough in Sosua with chicas approaching you constantly. Not my thing hence I would choose Cabarete. "
Presidential Suites Lifestyle Cabarete - Room Only
6/10 Okay
"Hi, I just stayed at Lifestyle Cabarete, at first booking i knew it was not an all inclusive hotel. Well aware of that. However I must of missed the fine print about not cleaning the room or that being an extra fee, towels cost $5 for a replacement, that was new to me. However when I called the reception, they said I would have to go down to pay the $5 before I receive the change. I thought that was so strange, then the air conditioner had a malfunction and drenched the room floor. The issue was fixed. Then a group of three maintenance BARGED in my room like FBI and closed the door right away because they DIDNT knock and had the WRONG room! My issue is wrong room or not! YOU KNOCK on a door before entering. Let alone a hotel room where you think you are safe! Oh yeah my bad for not putting the lock! It’s 3 pm we was waiting for the rain to pass to go back outside! And nearly caught a HEART ATTACK! One more thing bathroom door is a sliding door of wood, terrible to open and close, always got stuck! Which led to no privacy. Besides all of that the location is perfect 👌 the pools are great! The beach location was perfect and the food all around is fantastic!"
"Wonferfull stay! Our Suite was very large and immaculate! The restaurant and bar were awesome, but the best thing about this place are the staff!!!!! So kind and helpful and attentive. We loved them!!!"
Casa Marina Sosua, Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive
4/10 Poor
"The alcohol was horrible you couldn’t even drink any of it. We had to go out buy the alcohol at supermarket to be able to drink it. The bartenders were nice but not enough of them to be efficient for the amount of people at the resort. The system of how to make reservations for the restaurants was only on certain time and you had to get up super early to form the line. The quality of the food in restaurants were just ok editable. The food at the buffet was good choices and decent quality. The towels for the pool one was allowed to get at one location only and only for certain about time and if you lost it $15.00 to replace the towel. The resort didn’t have enough beach chairs or umbrellas for shade at the pool or beach. The pool area didn’t have swim up bar which was ok if only they had waiters by the pool to get your drinks or enough bartenders to not form such huge line just to get water or horrible drink you couldn’t even drink. Overall the place was located by the beach with beautiful view. My room was very musty and needed upgrades. The air conditioning was on and off throughout the nights. I did have a roach in my room one night.. overall experience I would not recommend or return to this resort unless the turn over to new management was to up keep the resort. The staff were friendly and polite. "
