10/10 Excellent
"Had a wonderful stay and Diana Fernandez ("wonder woman") in front lobby area was so wonderful and friendly and she was very helpful with everything that we needed or any questions we had for our stay. We were very pleased with our stay at the resort."
"Resort was clean and property was well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great views and a nice beach with shade and a breeze for the hot afternoons. Food was good, but options were a bit limited. Lots of hills and stairs to walk around the property, but there was a readily available shuttle if you didn't want to walk.
Overall a nice resort."
"exerything especially the cleanliness was perfect for the stay except the last couple hours when someone stoled my guests wallet containing credit cards and ID. Within in one hour of checkout the thief was making three different location purchases in Santa Cruz, one hour away from Tamirado, totaling over $250, The bank stopped and deacatived cards, insurance protection will possiblly cover purchase loss. the cash $200 and Costa Rica ID will not be recovered. The only person that we know was the coffee/bar counter lady who arrived 10:55 to account for bar consumption. A great stay was tarnished by the resulting loss. ALAN HUDSON"
"Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel is a perfect launching point for a Costa Rican vacation and the pool area and restaurant are terrific. For in and great food and drink choices and options and very fair pricing. The property is extremely clean and the rooms are spotless with modern updates."
"This resort was a pleasant surprise. My husband selected the hotel & I was not excited about having one restaurant on the property. All I can say is WOW!! The menu changed every evening (Italian, Caribbean, Mexican) , the protein was prepared fresh upon request. Typically you had the choice of beef, chicken, fresh fish or pork. The breakfast had an omelet chef, fantastic fruit/pastries & AMAZING coffee. The hotel was a small boutique hotel. The pools were well maintained, staff was constantly asking if there was anything they could do, making sure the grounds were spotless. The concierge arranged a private fishing charter that picked us up right on the beach in front of the resort. The beach was soft sand & waters calm enough to hang out in. We'd definitely come back."
"I stayed at the Riu Palace. The rooms were terrible. Outdated, stains on the walls, paint chipping on tables, old moldy smells, and filled with bugs. The bugs come from being in the mountains and surrounded by many trees. Unbeknownst to me they are closing this location for renovations September 1, 2026. I think they will reopen next year after March sometime. Wait until then to plan a visit. Other than the room, the resort is nice. Other areas are well maintained. The staff are exceptional. The food is decent. Really liked the steakhouse. They had amazing sunset views. They could plan out more evening / night time activities. I was given a free room upgrade that was a bit better than original room. Overall we had a nice time but wouldn’t stay here again."
