"I had high hopes for this resort. I have been to several other resorts in the area (Dreams, Rui, etc.) and had very good experiences. What immediately struck me upon arrival was how unhelpful the staff was and they definitely acted very nonchalant about assisting my fiancé and I with getting accommodated after a long day of travel. I would describe the front desk, valet's, and reservation desk as very lackadaisical. When you arrive, you must make your dinner reservations (which took 1.5 hours) or you will be stuck eating quite possibly the worst buffet food I have ever had. It was the same level of quality as an average public high school's cafeteria food. Sapporo was definitely the best restaurant on the resort and after trying the mexican one there and la Fuente, we did not dare venture from it again. Walking to your room does feel like walking into a psych ward, very bland decor, no life. You do have to pay extra for room service as well which is the first all inclusive I have encountered that with but maybe thats normal but was disappointed with. The room did have a jacuzzi which was very cool and clean, I thought the room was very nice but my couch was wet for some reason and smelled of mildew. The pool and beach were absolutely beautiful but do not expect good service from staff while out there. They definitely do not treat you as well as other resorts Ive been to unless you tip consistently well. Would generally describe the staff as incredibly lazy. 6/10 "

"I want to start by saying that this review has nothing to do with the staff, every single person we encountered was amazing, kind, and attentive. A special thank you to the team at the Katok restaurant in the Akumal resort, especially Oliva, Obdulia, Francisca, the chef who came out to greet us, and the captain waiter. Their service truly stood out and made us feel very welcome. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply affected by the food. During my stay, I got food poisoning twice, and the last time was extremely severe. I experienced fever, vomiting, chills, and diarrhea. I am still recovering from it. It was honestly very difficult to travel back home in that condition. I had a fever while flying and could not keep any food down due to how upset my stomach was. This was very disappointing, especially because everything else, particularly the staff, was so wonderful. I hope the resort takes this feedback seriously and reviews their food safety standards so that future guests do not go through the same experience. "

"“5-Star Fraud” – Ocean Riviera Paradise ⭐ 1/5 – 5-STAR FRAUD This hotel is a complete scam. It’s advertised as a 5-star resort, but the reality is far from it. Severely understaffed, slow and disorganized service, and poor customer attention. The food is very low quality, with limited options and endless lines for everything, even the buffet. Several times we couldn’t even get into the restaurants. The beach is full of rocks and seaweed, not what you expect in Cancun. You pay for luxury and get chaos instead. Do not recommend at all. There are much better options for the same price. “Fraude de 5 estrellas” – Ocean Riviera Paradise ⭐ 1/5 – FRAUDE DE 5 ESTRELLAS Este hotel es un engaño total. Lo venden como 5 estrellas, pero la realidad es completamente diferente. Falta de personal en todas las áreas, servicio lento, desorganizado y con muy mala atención. La comida es de pésima calidad, con muy pocas opciones y colas interminables para todo, incluso para el buffet. En varias ocasiones ni siquiera pudimos entrar a los restaurantes. La playa está llena de rocas y algas, nada que ver con lo que uno espera en Cancún. Pagas por lujo y recibes una experiencia caótica. No lo recomiendo para nada. Hay opciones mucho mejores por el mismo precio. "

"This was our 5th consecutive year visiting this resort. The staff here is amazing and really makes the difference for us when choosing our annual vacation destination. We have so many to thank. Juana and team for maintaining our room perfectly, Daniel and team for their gracious assistance in the pool and beach areas, Yolasef and Esperenza for the amazing spa experiences, Daniela and Joseph from Guest Services for their excellent support and daily kind wishes, the fabulous restaurant chefs and front end staff Quetzabel, Angeles, Sandy, Ana, Juan, Carmen, Carlos and their teams for their usual above and beyond service, Ezequiel and the Front Desk team for their amazing support and professional care, the Porters, Servers and incredible Bartenders who blessed us with perfect Margaritas every time, Gracias to all.
