Danesfield House Hotel And Spa
4/10 Poor
"We stayed for two nights 4th and 5th June as we were attending a wedding elsewhere on 5th June. The first night was fine but on the morning of the 5th the hotel advised we would have to move rooms as they had a wedding at the hotel and the bridegroom had specifically asked for the room we were staying in. We agreed to pack our stuff up and the hotel would move to the alternative room when we left for our wedding at 1.30. All through the morning we kept getting calls from reception asking when we would be ready to move as the bridegroom had arrived and the cleaners needed to clean the room. The cleaners came to the door, another guest came to our room and reception told us we would incur a late checkout fee although we were stayin that night!! When we returned from our wedding at about 12.30 the roome key did not work for the new room and it took reception 3 attempts to give us access to our new room. This is definitely not the service expected from a hotel of this class."
"Very corporate. Premier Inn and Travelodge do it better. We did complain about the quilt and it was replaced. Expect better quality bedding - lumpy pillows and duvets should not be allowed. Poor taste in bedroom art - who wants to wake up to bugs?"
"Breakfast was very good. The cleaning was below our expectations as the cleaning crew forgot to leave us clean towels after taking all our towels away. So next morning after I showered I stood dropping as my husband hunted down cleaning staff for clean towels. The vent in the bathroom was gross and there was bugs in the window ledge for the whole 5 night stay and we never opened the windows as we ran the air conditioning."
"Hotel was okay albeit a bit tired looking. Shower was a bit poor and so were the maintenance repairs. Food and drink was quite expensive ( everywhere is I suppose)
My dish ( a curry) came out without the naan bread and my partner’s ‘Signature Shepherds Pie’ came out first of as a big pile os sloppy mash and virtually no meat ,
sent that back . Second serving was a big pile of sloppy mash with some meat. The curry was fine but the Sheppards pie not so good.
The positives were a nice bed and helpful staff."
"We were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary with a stay at the Bull. A trip down memory lane for us. The hotel is very nice, we had a lovely suite. The public areas and gardens are great. Staff were very attentive and special thanks go to Liz, who helped with some extras to make the visit very memorable!"
