"It was very good value and in a very beautiful area. The maintenance of the building was outstanding. No lift and, at 80, I found that a bit of a struggle. But will return - and breakfast was good value."
"We were welcomed to the Hand hotel by polite and helpful staff . The Historical building is old but functional, and you can see it’s gone through some modernisation in the bar/ restaurant and outside sitting area , which was is a very nice and relaxing setting next to the river. However, indoors the hotel could do with a lift, as if your elderly, disabled, have a push chair , or suitcases, you have a struggle climbing stairs! Our room in particularly overlooked the entrance doors, and you can see through the windows of the hotel rooms opposite, and vice versa, so curtain nets are required. The room could be better arranged to accommodate the table and chairs , and tv would be better on the wall. Bed sheet was clean but base sheet was dirty around edge of the bed. Bathroom floor needed a mopping and plug does not fit in the bath. There were no drinking glasses provided , only 2 small plastic beakers in the bathroom. Shelf directly over the sink prevents you from washing your face properly in fear of catching your head! A room phone to reception would be useful ? Our stay was comfortable, but rooms need updating and modernising to fall inline with modern living!"
"Really happy with our stay. Great location. Managed to secure parking, great value breakfast, competitive bar pricing. Little tired in places (corridors) other than that well kept"
"Lovely hotel in excellent position. Staff were great and very useful having its own parking.
Our only disappointment was the food . Was ok but expected higher standard for both evening meal and breakfast. Was not expecting it to be a self service breakfast which we really don’t like
Overall though we had a very enjoyable stay"
"Worse place we ever stayed at
The place charged us for something at the bar that we never used took money from our card without consent disgusting place"
"The condition of the room was substandard put decoration toilet fittings Lowes toilet C Lowes mostly basically all worn out needs updating not worth £150 a night parking facilities. A nightmare spent two hours on the morning of arrival looking for parking will not go again."
