"The staff were incredibly nice even with a bit of a language barrier but we figured it out. The area is quiet and peaceful. The room was so cute and the building. It was a bit far from Kyoto but it was nice escape after a long day. And public transport was close by (10 min walk). Loved my experience and would definitely return and recommend. "

"I stayed at the Chaya house which was absolutely stunning. The staff were incredibly friendly and a joy to speak with. Otsu is a smaller quiet town with lots of character and friendly residents. I highly recommend checking out the local Izakayas and cafes for an equally excellent experience."

"This ryokan was beautiful and very clean, and the staff were always friendly and accommodating. You can also reserve the private onsen for about 1000 yen for an hour. The bus stop was a short walk away so it wasn't too bad travelling to different parts of the city. Loved this place! "

We were greeted at arrival and given an upgrade. Our bags had already been stored in our room. We had wonderful lounge experiences with the Maiko performance and the tea ceremony (which my kids loved) because it was "just enough" for them. "Luxury hotel overlooking Kyoto. Newly built 12 months ago so everthing was well maintained. Short walk to restaurants. Many close at 8pm due to local rules. We wanted a relaxing place to spend our last few nights after a busy tour of Japan. This hotel was great for that. "
