We love staying in South Fork, as opposed to Pagosa, due to its quiet nature. No traffic, but also limited services, so be aware of that.

South Fork is a very small town. We booked the Inn for my kids. We stayed in the campground. We go to South Fork 3 times a year. There are about 7 lakes within a short distance with great fishing.

Good
Only three restaurants in town (great pizza, good Mexican, burgers) makes Del Norte or Creede better towns for eating. No night life in South Fork.

Not really a reason to go there unless you are a skier, snowmobiles or fisherman

When you're here, you must try Mountain Pizza!! The deep dish is incredible and the self serve wine and beer wall was top notch!

I didn't spend enough time in South Fork to fairly rate it, but the scenery is gorgeous.

The Spruce Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"My husband and I stayed at this property for a night while driving across Colorado for vacation. South Fork, Colorado is a great town in the middle of the mountains! We enjoyed our stay at the Spruce Lodge. The room we stayed in looked like it was remodeled, yet it still had an old-school charm :) We could see the mountains from our door and smell the pine when we opened it. While there is no complimentary breakfast here, there are great food options in the area. Local eateries were within driving distance from the Lodge and I would definitely suggest Tiny Timbers for breakfast!! Their breakfast burritos and bacon, cheese, and green Chile croissant are delicious!!!:)
The only thing I would suggest to the hotel is maybe offering guests the ability to turn on/ off the outside porch lights in front of their rooms. My husband and I really wanted to stargaze the night we stayed at the hotel, but we encountered a little light pollution from the porch light that evening.
Overall, this hotel is a treasure that I'm happy we found on our vacation this past week :) "
"Amzing little gem of a property. Loved the vibes and aesthetic of the whole lodge and it is nestled into the mountains making of breath taking views! If I find my self that way again I definitely stay here again! 5 stars for sure!"
"Place was great for the price! They had a huge TV, which was fun because we had just been tent camping. Nice amenities, including coffee in the room. Bed was comfortable, and enormous if you like that. It seemed large even for a king. Maybe it was because of that little tent the night before!"
"Cheryl & Keith were both extremely friendly and a joy to meet. Although I missed in the e mail that I was supposed to check in by 7:00 on Sunday evening. She called me as I was going over Wolf Creek Pass and waited until I arrived at 7:45. Then Keith was kind enogh to visit with me for an hour giving me advice regarding four wheeling in the area.
I highly recommend the property and well be staying there again!"
