"I had a wonderful 1-night stay at the Maternushaus. The location was perfect, within walking distance from the Cologne main train station (Köln Hauptbahnhof). The facility was very clean, and, while not fancy by any means, it had all that I needed: a very clean single room with private bathroom and a comfortable bed, TV, several electric outlets, good WiFi, etc. The included breakfast was excellent, and there's also a free drinking water station. "A great stay. Helpful welcoming staff. Sauna and pool were great (but perhaps need a more obvious translation of rules of German saunas for nieve Englishmen). Excellent buffet breakfast. Hotel is brilliantly situated to explore old town. Even lower cost rooms have a nice aspect, I imagine Rhine river view rooms are stunning."
