It's a very good base for walking in the area, though the lake is not as pretty as Titisee up the road. Parking was easy, luckily, but they also give you a pass while you're there and you can take the train wherever you want. If you have a dog, the facilities are good and they were very kind. There's a nice park just up the hill, great for early morning or late night walkies. Very convenient to a grocery store, an atm, and right across the street from the tourist information center! We were looking for a smaller hotel with a traditional Schwarzwald flair in a beautiful location, and this fit the bill perfectly! This is an old house, but entirely up to modern standards inside, with a friendly staff and warm feel. The room was cozy, looking out on the quiet main plaza with its church. This is a beautiful place. Gorgeous landscaping, plenty of places to sit or walk the trails. Very clean. We didn't like the shower in our room, and there were quite a few stairs to our elevator which was difficult with luggage. I really would have stayed longer if we could. The pool was nice and I had a good massage.
The hotel is immediately located beyond the train station, and is central to shops and restaurants. From my room, I experienced beautiful views of the mountains and enjoyed natural light within the well maintained and nicely decorated room. Nice place right by all the major attractions in the area. The entrance is the same as the secret bar but once we found it, it was easy to find afterwards. The staff was very friendly and helped us when we needed it. Only thing we didn't know was you need your room key to be into the slot in the wall to have anything like lights turned on. 12pm check out was also nice so we weren't rushed to get out. Would stay here again if we were in the area again!
