Puerto Ayora - fairly nice for an island town. Lots of restaurants, try: Ayora - (the winner of Masterchef Ecuador will be your waiter!); Anca (truly a gem); Nazca (great location). Charles Darwin Research Centre is great, & Tortuga Beach is a beaut.

A veritable place of wild life, the conservation method is a serious matter to them. Tortuga Bay is so beautiful! El Chato ranch, Los Gemelos craters, lava tunnels are not to be missed and did I mention the Pinnacle rock?

It is a nice town with lots of shopping and dining options for tourists. It is not a modern town so dont be surprised but it is safe and the town was VERY convenient for getting to other islands.

We loved the town of Puerto Ayora. If you want bars etc the harbor area was hopping. So much to do there, I wish we had stayed a week.

"Friendly, helpful staff. Nice room. Pretty balcony. Great location. Excellent shared kitchen with great view of harbor. Could get a little street noise on street side rooms, but not bad and not late at night. Stayed on both sides of hotel, while seaside had lovely view, I actually preferred the street side. Seaside has almost a "shared" balcony with just a divider, and had trouble regulating water temp in shower due to solar powered heater."
