Wood near Sharperton This wood, which is mainly of silver birch, lies alongside the unclassified road to Harbottle, just west of Sharperton in the valley of the River Coquet, Coquetdale. The river, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its entire length, is off camera about 300m to the right, and the wood may be at least in part ancient woodland.

"I can't recommend the Bailiffgate Hotel highly enough. The staff are all so lovely. Our concierge, Kevin, was a delight. The team seem to be like family, they work together in such a friendly way. The building, a former school that's been extended, is absolutely stunning! Our room was really spacious. The gorgeous bathroom had a freestanding bath, as well as a walk in shower. Breakfast was delish - excellent choices and cooked to order. We'll be back! "
