"There are limited hotel options in Merced and most are close to the freeway. HIE was nice, clean and convenient with limited traffic noise. I don’t have high expectations for free hotel breakfast but here it was pretty good. Lots of choices. Biscuits were fantastic and the bacon was crispy! Lots to of parking and the area seemed a lot safer than the hotels on Motel Row. A lot quieter than the El Cap, which we love. If you are coming up to UC Merced, this is not a bad choice."

"Parking was available and convinient. Staff was very nice and helpful/accommodating. Waffles and coffee for breakfast were my fav. They did have omelets and potatoes as well, my kids liked the potatoes. Room was good, the bathroom did not have a fan. There were also no extra garbage bags, since they only came to clean the room every other day. The pool area could have been a little cleaner. The pool and hot tub had bugs and leaves in it, tables were dirty. Of course my kids did not mind any of that they jumped right in and loved every minute of it. There is also a Dutch Bros. Jack in a box, and latin super market near by."

"We booked a standard tent at Wildhaven Yosemite and our stay started off very badly. While unloading our belongings near the tent, we almost stepped on a rattlesnake right outside. About 20 feet away, there was another much larger rattlesnake, around 8–10 feet long, coming from underneath the tent next to ours. It was honestly terrifying and made us feel very unsafe. We immediately reported the situation to reception, and to their credit, they responded quickly by sending maintenance staff to catch the snakes. One snake was captured, but the larger one escaped. After that experience, we no longer felt comfortable staying in the tent area, so we requested to move to a cabin and paid an additional fee. The cabin itself was comfortable and had a beautiful view, which helped improve the experience somewhat. However, on our last day we noticed disgusting stains on both the pillows and the comforter. We recorded a video and showed it to the general manager during checkout. He handled the situation professionally and kindly offered us a 25% discount for the issues we experienced. We understand that snakes can occasionally appear in a campground setting, especially in a natural outdoor environment, and there’s only so much that can realistically be done about that. However, the cleanliness and upkeep of the cabin are things that should consistently meet guest expectations and are an important part of the overall experience."
