Truckee Donner Lodge is, without a doubt, the most pleasantly surprising hotel I've ever stayed at. Recommended by a friend, I was initially skeptical about its 3-star rating. This "cabin" is really a single wide mobile home with kitchen (stove, microwave, coffee, but no oven), bath with shower, toiletries provided. Lots of closet space and nice queen bed, although bedroom is very small. The TV was decent with DirecTV and DVD player. The couch is a very uncomfortable full futon. What a fun and comfortable place to stay. We were on our way through town and chose this hotel as a stop over. However, it is definitely a destination type of hotel. It is a quaint town with 1 restaurant and this fun hotel. The rooms were decorated perfectly and incredibly clean and comfortable beds. Leif was welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Wonderfol spot located in Soda Springs' CA. Large commons room, quite library, various accommodation options. Affordable. Excellent hiking or skiing right out the front door. Meals are freshly cooked and accommodate dietary needs. Meal plan is extra, ask for meal plan if its not offered. Remember to take your own bedding. Pillows are provided.
