We went in February and quite a few businesses were closed for the season. But there was still enough to keep us busy. We did see the ponies, and had excellent meals there. There's a NASA visitor center close by which is worth the visit as well.

Chincoteague is a lovely small town on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. It has lots of tasty restaurants, good seafood, and with Assateague Island National Seashore right next door, the perfect balance of nature and urban options.

I highly recommend the boat tour, Steamers restaurant, the downtown area stores -- Decoys and the book store -- and, of course, hiking the trails in the Wildlife Refuge. Also, visit in Oct -- fall colors, no crowds.

I fell in love. Assateague Island/ Beach is gorgeous! The Pony Swim Event schedule is on their app and there was so much to do! I will be back for that week again.

Visiting the horses at the Refuge is a must-do. Renting a bike to sightsee is a great way to see the whole island without dealing with the traffic.

Chincoteague is a beautiful small town, with great views and activities for beach and water front. It is far more quite and less crowded than the Ocean City area. We love the tranquility of the environment and the beach and water front beauty.

Going in the off-season was wonderful - we almost had the park to ourselves. We enjoyed birding here and how peaceful and quiet it was. We think it's probably a much different experience during the Summer months.

I have watched Chincoteague change every year for the last 50-odd years! It still retains its essential small fishing town feeling despite the development that's taken place in the last few years.

"staff was kind and accommodating. Location was great - walkable to town, the carnival and Assateague island was close by (driving). Ample parking. Pool was nice but we did not go to the pool.
Breakfast, average. "
"The property was located in the perfect location on the island! The property was right next to horses which was such a unique experience. The lookout on the top was a beautiful place to eat the delicious breakfast! Such a wonderful stay! I cannot wait to visit again soon!"
"Excellent staff. Good breakfast options. Limited juice, i.e. just powdered lemonade. Great pool. Needs some renovations. Overall, great for the price and location."
"We had a wonderful stay at The Chincoteague Inn for the 100th Annual Pony Swim! The renovated rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff was great.
The location works well, especially since the Pony Express Trolley stops right out front. We were also able to walk back from the Carnival Grounds in the evening with a stop at the Island Creamery (a must) which is right around the corner from the Inn.
Areas for improvement: wish there was an outside shower at the pool to rinse off. Also the refrigerator in room 301 definitely needs to be replaced—it worked but there was mold around the seams…ick.
We would stay again without hesitation."
