"The staff of Gora Kansuiro is a highlight of this ryokan. Everyone showed above and beyond hospitality, from the moment we even stepped into the parking lot! The location, tucked in the green woods with gardens and walking paths surrounding it, is perfect - just a short walk from Gora station (also note: the switchback train up the mountain to Gora station is a wonderful unique experience all on its own). The views and private onsen were lovely and I felt very relaxed there. Only improvements would be to allow luggage storage/transport to station and cleaner onsen. "

"Hakone Retreat is a gorgeous getaway with a wonderful staff that is always available to assist you. We stayed in one of the private onsen villas, room 3, and it was absolutely everything we could dream of. The hours of operation for the entire property take a little getting used to (the cafe, the lounge and woodside restaurant) but we figured it our and had a fantastic, relaxing time."

"A lovely stay at a family run ryokan very near Gora station. It is not luxurious accommodation by any means but the staff are very sweet and kind. The place is a little rustic but the food is amazing!! Actually they could cut down on a few dishes and it would still be too much to eat! The private onsen was also much appreciated as there is no shower in the room. All in all, I had a relaxing time in Gorakan. "

"Rooms are very clean. Amenities are adequate. Above all the place is in an environment where ait quality is superb and hot springs are everywhere! Mt. Fuji is about 50 kilometers away and you can see it from a couple of train ride stops away whether permitting. On the other hand for customers with a certain age you may need to be prepared for slope climbing.
