The beds were very clean and comfortable but the entire property is a bit old and run down. However there is a 24 hour shuttle and the price was right. It felt safe too. It was perfect for one night before flying out in the morning.

Although an older hotel that needs a bit of love and attention, it was excellent value for an overnight before flying out of Auckland airport. The shuttle to the airport was regular (15-20 minutes apart) and reliable - plus good instructions were given in advance on how to catch the bus from the airport to the hotel.

Nous étions supposés avoir une chambre avec salle de bain commune dans la nouvelle section. La réception nous a plutôt assigné (sans notre demande) à une autre chambre supposément meilleure. Meilleure, car elle avait un petit lit de plus et une cuisine (que nous n’avions pas besoin). Le tapis était sale, le plancher collait. Il y avait des trous dans les mur… je suis retournée voir la réception qui m’a dit que notre vraie chambre avait été assignée à quelqu’un d’autre. Très très décevant.

The staff are always helpful. We are only ever staying one night around flights from the airport. The property is quite old, but it's a good budget option for overnighting before or after a flight. I've already booked our next stay for a flight in May.

We did not even enter the premises. The property looked dirty and neglected. It looked like parts of the roof were falling in. Some curtains were drawn, half falling down and mouldy. There were some shady looking characters hanging around the entrance. It felt unsafe to even walk in to check in.

Pictures were nothing like the property. We went in to find dirty floors and tiles, broken hanging from the wall towel rail, grubby walls, broken uneven tiles, place smelt like it hadnt been opened in quite some time. Checked in then left after 30mins after we booked elsewhere, with zero refund. Couldnt bring ourselves to stay. Photos dont even show how bad it was

This place shouldn’t be advertised on Expedia. It was abysmal. From the photos I thought I was booking an affordable hotel. Instead it’s more like a halfway house with mystery stains everywhere, curtains hanging off railings, cigarette burns in the furniture, zero privacy. We ended up having to find other accomodation at 2am in the morning after two long haul flighst. Turns out VR Auckland Airport is actually Aero Auckland Airport Hotel with 2.2 stars on Google and numerous reviews complaining about the mould and smell. 2.2 stars is generous.

I booked the room to get a few hours of sleep between flights. I chose this property because it had a free shuttle to and from the airport, and it suited my backpackers budget . The shuttle was great. Check-in was easy and pleasant. The property seemed to be undergoing renovations (there was a sign posted when I got inside the wing where my room was). It was definitely run-down and quite unclean. The bathroom especially, which is always unpleasant. The bed itself was clean and comfortable . It was kind of noisy with people talking until quite late, and based on the surrounding area I was not 100% confident about safety and security (there was only a button lock on the doorknob, no deadbolt or security chain) and I was on the ground floor so I didn’t feel safe keeping the window open while I slept. There was a very strong chemical smell in the room (cleaning chemicals I would guess) and so between all that and no fresh air, I did not manage to get any sleep before having to get on the airport shuttle at 4am. They did have very nice quality tea available in the room. I would not stay at this property again. Hopefully it will be better when the renovations are complete.

There were no towels, facecloths or teaspoons to stir my coffee. There were milk pods in the mini fridge, but it wasn't turned on. The free airport bus was good.

The airport shuttle was handy, and that was about it. The room was in a terrible state and smelt horrible. I couldn't sleep because the strong smell of bleach was getting caught in my throat. There were holes in the doors and walls, a missing towel rail, terrible patch-up paint, cupboard doors missing, and curtains hanging off - we had to tie them up by hand to get privacy. Our room was located right next to a busy intersection and was extremely noisy, with no soundproofing at all. I'm not normally fussy, and it was only one night, but if I had a car with me, I would have slept in that instead. I rated the service as poor because there just wasn't any at all. It was managed by the Gateway next door. It felt like a prostitute rented by the hour room. The bed was comfortable and seemed clean and that was the only redeeming feature of the room.
