By far the worst vacation experience my wife and I have had. Service was terrible, food at the hotel was darn near inedible and we had to change rooms half way through our stay. Apparently somewhere hidden in fine print it says you will have to change rooms if staying on a Saturday. This is because the property is a timeshare. So if you’re looking for just a vacation look else and if you’re looking for a timeshare you’ve been warned, I couldn’t imagine being locked into this place. We tried every option to get a refund so we could go elsewhere.

We loved our stay, the food is a bit too Americanized for our liking, when going to Mexico we expected authentic food, but the overall experience with staff and services was wonderful, my kids and I enjoyed our stay, we just left today! We didn’t get to enjoy the beach due to high tides and severe sargassum but we’ll have great memories of the resort.

Most of the servers were nice and friendly. Management was not very nice to us. They kept painting around our balcony. Paint splashed all over our balcony, the kids pool floats, and our cloths that were drying outside in the balcony. When I contacted the front desk to make them aware of the issue, they just said sorry and it would be another 4 hours of this. I had to call again 5 hours later to let them know the balcony is in terrible shape from all the paint that covered the floors and chairs. I had to clean the paint off of our personal belongings myself. Housekeeping finally came a little while after I called to try to clean the mess up. The balcony was in such a bad shape that he had to call for extra help from someone else to help with the cleaning. In addition to all of that, there was constant banging and loud chatter from people doing maintenance on the building. Food was also not so great. In fact some of the servers recommended against specific dishes because they also disliked them. There is a severe lack of servers and high chairs for children. Most times we asked for a high chair the server would disappear and not come back. Also the few shows at the Gran Salon that are offered is almost impossible to get into. I have reserved days in advance but was only able to find one spot for one show. It was just stressful being there.

This was our first time staying at Royal Sands Resort & Spa in Cancún, and sadly, it was a disappointing experience from the start. While the property itself is visually appealing, the service and overall experience fell far short—especially as Mexican guests who were not part of the timeshare program.
It became quickly apparent that this resort is primarily geared toward timeshare members. As non-timeshare guests, we constantly felt like an afterthought. The level of service we received was noticeably different—like we were a burden rather than welcomed visitors. We traveled with my sister and her family, and they felt the same: overlooked, ignored, and treated like second-class guests.
Although the resort is advertised as “all-inclusive,” many items still came with additional charges, which felt misleading. Over half of the restaurants required reservations, and despite calling right at 8:00 AM, everything was booked by 8:02. It was frustrating and disorganized. There were also no shows available without reservations, leaving us with very limited options for entertainment.
The drinks were watered down, and again, unless you were a timeshare guest, it felt like good service just wasn't a priority. We often had to hunt down staff for assistance instead of being offered help or attention—something that felt especially unfair when we saw others being served promptly and proactively.

The property is nice, and staff are friendly, expect that they follow you around harassing you about the time share presentation. I couldn’t even ask where to get pesos without being held hostage for 20 minutes to be asked why I wouldn’t do the presentation. Every time I left the property I had someone stop me to ask where I was going, where did I purchase tickets, because they were making sure I didn’t attend another timeshare presentation from a competitor. When I refused to do the timeshare presentation multiple days in a row the concierge service stopped being helpful about where to get things and transportation services, making recommendations for me to go to places they knew were closed. We won’t be going back for the constant harassment alone.

It was a very family-friendly resort. The rooms were spacious and clean and the views are beautiful. You also had access to another close by resort which was amazing. The only thing I did not like was that there were not many activities, especially in the evening, so at times it got boring.

Great resort! Staff are welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. All areas were clean and kept tidy. The buffet had a tremendous variety of food to choose from and all of it was delicious! Beautiful pool area with a beautiful beach attached. Zero complaints here.

The food choices were great !! I’m a frequent traveler to Cancun. The food was top notch. Multiple pools and beach / lounge chairs. Only downfall was the floors were very slippery. I almost fell multiple times walking slow and wearing flip flops or even tennis shoes.

Been going to “Royal Resorts” for about 12 years, and have always loved it. The purchase by Holiday Inn has definitely been noticed. Primarily with the food options and quality. The food was one thing that really separated these resorts from others, and unfortunately it has gone drastically downhill in this area. We have never had GI issues in the past, and this trip we both were dealing with them during the whole stay. We heard other guests talking about their stomach issues as well. The quality was the biggest issue, but the lack of offerings was evident as well. Overall big disappointment to see a company that has had such high standards fall so quickly. Unfortunately we will be looking at other options for the first time in over a decade.

Only bed is too small I suppose to have king size bed unfortunately they give me queens bed I don't know why. But besides that all is great.
