Solo trip post hiking the Seven Sister's Cliffs. A beautiful and calm place to go to after a challenging hike. My room had a gorgeous view of the English Channel and the entire room and bathroom felt like you were staying in a top spa accommodation. Breakfast was of an array of nice choices. The original room we were allocated was a bit small so we changed to the family room. At an off peak price it was good value and I would summarise it as a cheap and cheerful hotel. Traveling as a single person I felt very safe, I loved the single room that was comfortable, had everything you could possibly need.Lorraine who helped with the breakfast was absolutely wonderful, she is an asset to the Hotel.I would recommend the Halycon to anyone looking to stay in the area.I would live a return visit. The owner was very accommodating with a late check in. Loved the whole experience.

Bargain hotel with some downsides

This hotel is in a pretty quiet and in a convenient location. The rooms are clean. The downsides are that the rooms are VERY small. We had no room to do anything but get into bed and there was only one nightstand. The bathrooms are in need of some rehab. The shower had a curtain with pink mold and the door had exposed wood on the bottom where it had gotten wet too many times. If you’re picky, this is probably not the place for you.

Great value in a good location on the sea in Eastbourne. Friendly staff, clean, and quiet. Good access to the South Downs Way as well, heading towards the Seven Sisters. Only drawback was the tiny shower, but for the price, it’s worth it.
