The staff was the best part of my stay at Sanctuary Cap Cana. All of them were helpful, amiable, efficient. Don’t think I have enough adjectives. But the rooms were tired and in need of a refresh. I was in room 6102 and the bathroom was a mess. Even worse was the shower where the shower head needed a cleaning so water would come out of all the holes. That rain shower head was more of a sprinkle than rain. Also, the water temperature could not be controlled. Sometimes it would initially come out at 50*C/112*F. That’s a second degree burn. I was able to lower the temperature to 25* but it still felt much higher than that. Not only is it a health hazard but imagine spending a day in the sun and not being able to lower the water temperature below mid 80s F. Limited restaurants availability. The restaurant staff was limited and some of the restaurants would not open when they were scheduled to be open. The reason for this was that staff would be moved from one restaurant to another and there was not enough staff to operate all advertised restaurants.

The condition of the water at the beach was horrible, full of algae. We could not put one foot in the water. I think the Resort should make customers aware of the water situation, I understand is not their fault, it is nature BUT , they should be honest and let people decide. For me, the water was the main reason for the trip. So I was very disappointed!

The grounds were beautiful. Disappointed that there was no ocean to get into and enjoy. The smell from the seaweed was overwhelming! The buffet was really a cafeteria and the food was not good . We were unable to eat at one of the restaurants on the property called “The Wok.” You have to make reservations with the concierge for this restaurant, but every time we spoke with the concierge, we were informed that The Wok was closed for a private event. One time the concierge told us The Wok was closed as the reason we were unable to book a reservation and we had just spoke with a couple who already had reservations to eat there. If all the restaurants won’t be available during the scheduled stay, then that information should be shared prior to booking, so you don’t arrive only to find out that this resort actually isn’t “All Inclusive”

We showed up for a ten day vacation to this resort to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We saved up for 5 years to come here. We read reviews and looked at pictures. They said this was a 5 star resort. We specifically chose this resort for romance and the beautiful beach. When we arrived we were told we couldn’t use any of the beaches around the property. They were covered in like high seaweed throughout the entire property. They even closed the restaurant on the water because the smell and seaweed was so bad. The water was dark brown and very unsafe. We weren’t able to go into it the entire 10 days we were there. The resort didn’t comp us anything for our inconveniences. No spa days, or upgrades at all. This trip cost us over $7000 and we mentioned we came here to swim at the beach every day. We even suggested they have a daily shuttle to a beach an hour away that didn’t have seaweed. We mentioned our disappointment multiple times to our butler Alexander. Not once did they try to make amends. The whole trip should be refunded for all the issues at this resort. If anyone would like to see pictures, I have plenty to back it up. Our trip was this year from June 10th-19th 2025.

The majority of the staff and accommodations were AMAZING ! The food was a big disappointment. The buffet meals were bland and cold. We did enjoy The Wok and the italian restaurants for dinner. Miguel, our butler, was extremely friendly and attentive. He was awesome! The seaweed did take over the beach so we were unable to swim in the ocean which was a huge disappointment.

Birthday trip getaway from South Florida

The staff was very friendly and professional. We loved the fact that there were different restaurants to choose to dine on property without having to leave property. We ate on my actual Birthday6/10/25 at the steakhouse and the staff was great and the food was magnificent also the staff came out with dessert and sang Happy Birthday, next day we ate at the Asian restaurant which was beautiful as well as the others and the food and staff were magnificent. Third day we ate at the Italian restaurant with wonderful staff. Those were actually the nights we dressed up and actually felt like we were at a 5 star restaurant. There were other wonderful restaurants on the property like the wood fire pizza, the burger grille spot and also the dessert/ ice cream and red velvet dessert spot. All of the staff were awesome and polite and I definitely recommend to stay here because it’s definitely a cut above the rest. We have been traveling for years around the world and we have stayed at Sandals, The Ritz Carlton and number of All inclusive resorts. This by far tops all. Our room was the Junior Luxury Suite King with ocean view. The staff was very helpful. There were several beautiful seating areas to lounge all around the Sanctuary. We loved it and would definitely recommend this beautiful and peaceful location.

Nos hemos hospedado muchas veses pero en esta última no nos sentimos bien con el servicio el personal no estaba trabajando como en otras ocasiones se sentía el disgusto con sus funciones muy lamentable. Problemas serios con playas repletas de algas. Un olor nauseabundo en todo el hotel y un alto costo que no merecio la pena. Cobran adicional si deseas tomar agua Perrier o San Pelegrino y de igual forma por bebidas Premium. No es un hotel que este a la altura del precio ni cerca de serlo. En plena mañana uno tratando de descansar maquinas corta cesped y excavadora retirando algas. Pesimo en todos los sentidos!!!

We were looking for a quiet, low key place and this was mostly that. However, the beach was not available due to a seaweed problem, but other resorts were able to keep their beach open if not in ideal condition. On several occasions the language barrier led to incorrect orders. Sometimes we were brought a zero dollar check to sign, and other times we were not which led to confusion. Finally the food was OK but was not great, even at the highest end places.
