Very nice experience with wood burning fireplace

8/10 Very good

The reception was very average nothing special, the restaurant wasn’t good, it needs a better menu, the staff at the bar( welcome drink) was excellent, the plumbing in the toilets needs improvement

This place is a museum. In normal situation, it is run as autograph or luxury selection. You use antique bed and in rooms with colonian furnitures. One block away from the famous church and Mayan market. The staff ain a seperate office and very professional to give you timetable and help you with guide to any place.A chef team serve you for breakfest. You pay local price for luxury selection place.

Wonderful stay. Lovely room with a fire at night. Friendly helpful staff. We thought it a gem amongst the colourful Chichi markets - it’s extremely close to the market, churches & cemetery

The property was stunningly beautiful and ALL the staff were just fantastic! The hotel is just one block from the main plaza and I couldn't have been happier! Thank you!

Love the stay here with great staff! Excellent, old structures with gorgeous courtyards and nice touches in the rooms. Heat is by fireplace, but they will set it all for you and it works nicely. Solid breakfast, and you can't beat the location. (It is tricky to drive to though, as the market takes up many roads around it--otherwise really great spot for exploring.)

If you like staying in historical properties with period furnishings, yet with all modern amenities, this is the place for you! It's great to see how the wealthy lived in the colonial era. Front desk employees were super helpful and spoke English. The included breakfast was delicious and served in a historical room with a view. We received drink vouchers, but did not know they had to be used on arrival day before 7pm. Consider calling to ask for rooms with windows facing the back of the property, which is a green space, instead of the rooms facing the streets.

6/10 Good

Ok if passing through.

This was a much researched and planned trip. Having seen promotional info about the Mayan inn online with staff in traditional gear , we were full of anticipation. The info in the Inn itself suggested guests take a drink in the fire lit cosy bar. It gets cold at night in the highlands and after a day exploring the market, that would have been welcome. The Inn hasn’t changed much since the 1930s although it does have WiFi in public areas not in bedrooms. Bedroom was dark and tired. Staff were friendly enough but not in traditional wear. Breakfast , if included, is carefully rationed out and one needs to ask for butter or more coffee. The enticing bar had no fire for the 3 nights there , so we sat in coats. The bar opening times are limited- some nights it shut at 8 pm. We paid extra for a Mountain View: the hills were invisible because of trees right next to the window. This is an old hotel with quirky items and some interesting paintings but…… it’s ok for two nights if passing through. It is a few meters from the market and famous churches so well positioned. We stayed for 3 nights and felt it lacked guest comfort zones.

Gorgeous property!

An absolutely charming, fantastic, historic property, right in the middle of town, at the very edge of the market. We had an enormous suite with a fireplace and more beds and space than we could use. Loved it!!!
Joan, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Great place with lots of character! It is right in the center of things if you're going to the market or cemetery, although a bit of a walk from where most shuttles drop off I think (tuk-tuks are available, but negotiate before getting in!). The beds were very comfortable, there were plenty of outlets - though no overhead lighting - and they brought a pitcher of purified water for drinking and teeth brushing. The breakfast was also very good. The only disappointments were the expensive bar (which didn't have purified ice) and the sort of threadbare vintage furniture in the room (which could easily be fixed without losing the charm). We were only there for one night to go to the market, and I wish we could have stayed longer!
Margaret, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

It was very difficult to get to sleep because we were in a room that was on the side of the street. Very noisy room.

agua caliente

This 1930s-era palace features colonial-era furniture and art that makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time or staying in a museum. Conveniently located just steps from the market and a block from the main church. Beautifully maintained including old world charm like wood stacked in a hearth box next to your fireplace, fresh water in a carafe and goblets on a tray, and beautiful courtyards. Authenticity throughout added to the richness of the experience. We felt like royalty!

10/10 Exceptional

Great location, maybe 1 minute walk to start of the market. Room was very large and bed comfy. Bathroom was fine as we had hot water always and good water pressure. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only negative was the inclusive breakfast. Service was poor (received toast, 5 mins later received the jam, 5 mins later still the butter). Also the breakfast food was average. It's all included so can't complain too much. Only other comment is bar doesn't open to 5pm. It's the only one on town , there was always guests waiting for it to open. Maybe open bar earlier ? Overall great place to stay.
