A room with a view

It was my first time staying at one of the YHA hostels in bath. Their service was great! They have a self catering kitchen and great food and meals daily. The rooms were very clean and it had a great view of the city. Highly recommend it. 10/10

Older couple hostel stay.

Nice hostel for visiting Bath. Having meals available there was a big plus. Lots of families and older couples staying while we were there. No complaints.

Amazing view over Bath from this YHA. There’s a comfortable large lounge area as well as a big kitchen dining area where you can use microwaves to cook (there are no hobs.) very friendly, lots to do so returning in summer 😊

Good staff and very polite and helpful, while the rooms did not have any towels, shampo, but clean and lovely place.

This was a nice place to stay and the staff was very accommodating especially when I lost my key card but it's a dorm at the end of the day and you're sleeping in the same room with a bunch of other guys. Facilities were well maintained and the falling of breakfast was pretty tasty but an extra cost

Its a nice hostel with reasonable pricing. The location is not the best to get into the City since it's up on the mountain, but that means that it's incredibly quiet there! It's also good for hiking. There is a communal cooking space, but we were surprised that there is no stove there. That means you can only cook with an oven or a microwave.

Great property with good facilities. Such a shame there is no parking on site. However there was parking on the main road nearby. Tried to book again but a lot more expensive which is a shame.

Don’t stay in room next to front door, noisey and could not sleep until other guests slept after 2am. Don’t pay for that experience.

The ensuite family room was perfect for my needs. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was reasonable. The building was updated and refurbished to keep the original features.

8/10 Very good

The location, while out of the main part of town, had a bus stop at the front driveway and the buses were really easy to use. Much easier than trying to drive in Bath. I didn’t have to wait long for the buses either, they seemed relatively frequent. The bed was comfortable with nice views. Mum and I stayed in seperate private rooms. Her room was quiet. I had some noisy neighbours near mine which was frustrating but to be expected when staying in a hostel. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The setting is beautiful with lovely views over Bath. The kitchen facilities were excellent. Clean and had everything we needed. Only thing that I wasn’t happy with was the laundry facilities. There was only one washing machine and dryer and they were not commercial grade… the washing machine had a ‘mixed’ cycle that was over 2 hours long. Having said that I was able to get my washing done and I was glad they had some facility for this. I would definitely stay here again.

Good value for Bath

Plus: Warm and dry, and hot water in the showers. Also met some lovely people. Cons: Some of the guests and staff are not so lovely. Some of the men were discussing their experiences with prostitutes in the kitchen (there were children in the room) and one of the guests in my dorm was trying to pick up arguments, talking very loudly, slamming doors etc. Another one was on the phone (in the dorm) until nearly 11pm. There were people drinking alcohol inside the hostel (not sure whether they bought it from the bar or not).

Sewage

Poop smell. I thought the 1st time we stayed here they just needed to empty the sewage, it was worse this time; sewage smell gets worse after people shower. It’s disgusting. But in the rooms and the grounds are great

Honest detailed review. Great stay

Absolutely great stay and stunning location. We traveled as a group of friends and booked the private room. All the facilities and and service staff was just wonderful and welcoming. I would say the private rooms could be a little bigger in size but that's not a problem. Everything was clean and beautifully maintained. The priory itself was beautiful in and around the grouds. The kitchen and self catering area was great, spacious and well equipped with all utensils cutlery and multiple ovens. There is no induction or stove if anybody needs that detail. We were able to cook a lot of things in the ovens and kitchen space. Walk to the hostel from bath city centre is very scenic but it is quite uphill so i would not recommend walking with bags. Over all a great stay and highly recommended.

6/10 Good

Issues with the check in.

I had an issue when checking in as the bed had been 'double booked' by 2 different platforms (hotels.com and expedia.com). I arrived before the other person but it took just over 1 hour for the staff to force the system to allocate the bed to me and the other person had to sleep on a sofa! At least I didn't have to pay twice: that nearly happened to me with a camping site near Calne (they claimed the monies were not in their bank account!) and with a backpackers' hostel in Oradea (in Romania - same story: they claimed the payment hadn't gone through). There is a large kitchen (microwaves only) however it is very busy in the morning. Some of the bins (kitchen and toilets) didn't seem to be emptied on a daily basis. Otherwise the hostel was clean, if a bit noisy during the day, and some people in my dorm chatted (to other people in the dorm, or on their phone) until well after 10pm. It's OK for a short break, provided you don't have to get up early in the morning!
