It’s fun to stay at this quaint historical hotel in a great location to explore Balat. The restaurant was also very good, will recommend. It has no lift but they helped with my luggage.

An excellent place to discover Fener and Balat

We enjoyed our stay at the Troya Hotel in Balat, and strongly recommend it. The hotel is an old building, more than 100 years old, and the bedroom is a little gem. We had never seen such old electric switches, and the art deco chandelier was a gem! The staircase is a bit steep and narrow if you have heavy luggage to carry to the top floors but the staff is helpful. The graffiti decoration in the restaurant is a bit odd in the context of the hotel :) Access is very convenient, on the Golden Horn and close to a tram stop.

The hotel is clean and quaint, with a delicious breakfast buffet and a nice restaurant. It is in a great location to walk around in the historic UNESCO area of Fener and Balat. Our room was small, but had a lovely view of the golden horn. The pillows were great too!

Old style feel in one of the coolest neighborhoods in Istanbul. What else can you ask for - the breakfast is amazing and the manager Cemilah is super accommodating. The tavern-style seafood restaurant on the bottom is packed every night

Historical Hotel in Balat, good restaurant

It was a good choice of hotel in the Balat, where I was able to explore the neighborhood. The manager was able to get me a room with a balcony and a view of the Bosphorus, which was what I requested even when it wasn’t available in the app. The Greek restaurant downstairs was excellent, it was always busy for lunch and dinner. The free breakfast was sufficient.

The hotel was great, but just small bathrooms and no lift. Service was good and staff was helpful, but if you have big suitcases then its a big struggle to go to 3 rd floor on stairs. Breakfast was super tasty and good variety. Views of the bosphorus are great from 3rd floor rooms.

Sadly we were just there one night and had to leave before breakfast. But we wanted to visit that area, and found a fantastic restaurant just two doors away. Evelik. One of the best we've been to. The golden horn waterway is right across the street for a great walk and views. Transit station also very near. We would definitely consider returning for a longer visit.

What a beautiful hotel. It's old and feels like stepping back into time. And waking up to the view of the water every day was wonderful. It was so convenient to walk to the restaurants and shopping of Balat and I loved that it was across the street from a tram stop! It made it sooooo convenient with my daily trips to the other side of the straight. The staff spoke great English and buffet turkish breakfast was served every morning til 10:00. I would definitely stay here again!

Very clean Facility. The staff was wonderful. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Except that the cleaner didn’t change my bed sheets every day. Maybe the cleaner was overwhelmed by her workload and she forgot to change the sheets for 3 days. She did make the bed but the sheets remained the same.

Two nights in Istanbul.

Room was on 3rd floor with no lift. Also it was so small, that it was difficult to squeeze onto the balcony. But there WAS a balcony with a fantastic view, a kettle and coffee, warm water, A/C, nice people and very clean. And a tram and a ferry practically at the doorstep. Nice, colourful (litterally) neighbourhood too.And not expensive.

Period property, so has character but next to busy noisey road. We didn't go, but restaurant downstairs busy both nights we stayed, so seems popular. You can hear everything in the room we had from the restaurant, (even someone snoring above us, which we found amusing) but worst thing was the smell of cigarette smoke drifting in. Luckily it ended around midnight, so not too bad. Would say the hotel is good if you're not planning on staying in the room too long and are out enjoying the neighborhood.
