We had an enjoyable 3 nights stay at the Rui Garoe. We had room 409 with a private balcony overlooking the pool. The room was a good size, clean and smart. Huge comfortable bed.
Staff were all very welcoming and helpful, well kept grounds and we did hire a car and found a free parking space outside easily. The location is ideal, very quiet on the edge of town. There was a shuttle bus to town but had fewer seats than those waiting to go. We walked into town which took 20 minutes and was good exercise back uphill! - it's a nice route with lovely views of the coast. We also used local buses to get around and walk along the coast.
Breakfast and Dinner were of a very high standard. Huge choice and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. There were freshly cooked choices with daily changes. We don't normally like inclusive options, but this was a pleasant surprise.
A couple of small grumbles, only because this is trying hard and very nearly a top quality hotel. To be able to use the safe in your room (that's already there) the charge is €2 per day - that's a first. The only other gripe is the complete absence of free drinking water around the hotel. Most guests bought water at the nearby convenience store.
We would recommend the hotel and come to stay again.
