It was a nice stay
Reem, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Wake Up! Sydney owned by the Millet family, is conveniently located near Central station. All rooms including the private rooms, the dorms, and the bathrooms, are immaculately clean. Impressive considering there are over 500 beds in this place. The kitchen on the 1st floor is clean and modern with new electric hobs. 2 convection ovens and microwaves. Big shoutout to Nora, India and Pearse who always make me feel welcome when I stay. A high quality and recommended hostel. (There is also a Wake Up! at Bondi beach).

Anna, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

It was in a very convenient spot within the Sydney CBD. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Vibes within the place were immaculate. The shared toilets were mostly clean. The laundry was also very easy and convenient to access. Great stay overall. Would consider booking again if I ever came back to Sydney.

Tina, 4-night trip

Perfect hostel for the price. You have good availability with showers/bathrooms, good amount of cooking stations and fridges/drawers to store food in and feels much more organized than other places in the area

This is a great hostel option. They have laundry, a good location to station, and offer tours and things. The staff is friendly and helpful. You will have a little noise, if that bothers you, they offer ear plugs.

Great place to stay

The hostel is great, lots of people from all over and a very friendly atmosphere. I was able to check in early and considering I had just arrived from London it was super helpful. The beds were clean although when I was on the 7th floor it got very hot at night. The events the hostel runs were fun and were great value for money. However the Side Bar adjacent to the hostel have horrible door men, If you are a black or middle eastern man good luck being allowed in. I was with my group of friends twice in a row "sorry mate not tonight" where as the rest of the group allowed in, considering the second time I didn't even have a drink before due to being weary about the bouncers. When I told him I sober as he claimed I walked past him, so did the rest of the group?

Pro : Central Con : Room is too tiny. Not soundproof kept hearing doors slammed from neighbouring rooms.

I wouldn't want to Wake Up anywhere else

I had an excellent stay from beginning to end. Upon check-in, I was greeted with a smile and friendly conversation, and had the activities, facilities and key card explained to me. When I checked out, I received a friendly farewell and was asked if I needed my bags to be stored. I was pleasantly surprised with the condition of my private double room, complete with desk and television. However, the windows were unable to be opened to allow air circulation, and I could not locate an air conditioner. It was lucky therefore that I was staying during the colder months, so this didn't bother me, but I hate to think how stuffy and hot the room would become during Summer. Furthermore, the foam mattress was uncomfortable, the walls paper thin, and loud noises from the street could be easily heard, and sometimes made it difficult to get to sleep. This is to be expected though from a hostel, and I was happy to overlook this. I am looking forward to choosing Wake Up Sydney when I next travel, because there is no other place where I'd rather Wake Up. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

4/10 Fair

Depends on the staff, some are nicer than others. Someone randomly took off my clothes from the dryer when it’s not done so when I got my clothes it’s all damp. Staff partied harder than guests. They were on the tables dancing and yelling in the common room/kitchen.
Bich Ngoc, 4-night trip

대체적으로 잘 지내다 갔어요. 방도 깨끗해고 좋았어요. 하지만 화장실은 낡았다는 느낌이 들어요. 근데 지내면서 벌레도 없었고, 직원들도 친절해서 좋았어요.

Extremely close to Central Station and perfect spot for a short getaway to Sydney. Ample room to store breakfast items and drinks in the kitchen fridges. Love the individual light and power point for each bed. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

6/10 Good

An Australian owned hostel, founded by the Millet family. There are 3 hostels in the WAKE UP! chain, WAKE UP! Sydney Central, one in Bondi, and one in Byron Bay, Of all the 3 Wake Up's, WAKE UP! Sydney Central is the weakest link in my opinion, simply due to how it is run. The target audience for this hostel is 18-30 years. If you are outside of this age group, you may notice they may give you different treatment, esp if you are much older. I had an unpleasant experience with the
1-night trip

8/10 Very good

I was happy that the staff checked me in early in the morning before the official time and the upgrade. The building has been renovated. The room is small but clean. My only complaint is that the toilet bowls were dirty. I blame it on the design because it is deep and the pool of water is small, like a well. So lots of poops stuck above the water. I suggest the management taking a look at American ones of which the pool is wider and no well

Really nice staff and the rooms were very nice for the price. Great location right next to everything.
