The Isle of Mull Hotel and Spa
8/10 Good
"Lovely room with fantastic views. Really enjoyed the spa. Bed a bit too soft, but great to have bathrobes included.
Restaurant pricey but mains were good. Disappointed by desserts. Awful experience in the Sea Deck bar - service was dreadful and food mediocre. Most tables at knee level so not ideal for dining. Breakfast decent but nothing special - buffet only. Apart from the service in the bar, staff were great and we enjoyed our stay"
"Breakfast was super as were the evening meals.
Bed was very comfy but the room could have done with dusting. Bathroom clean but the shower made a weird noise when used.
Staff were lovely."
"The Glenburn has stunning views of Rothesay Bay and lovely open areas to enjoy it. It is quite clean, as long as you don't look too close --the carpet was stained with coffee stains in my room. At first glance, it looks upscale, then there was plastic table cloths in the breakfast room. There is no hotel info or posting anywhere, so guests are constantly asking 'when is breakfast?', 'when is checkout?' etc. Breakfast is late and short --8am-9:30. I got there at 8:20 --the sausages and potato scones were already cold, despite being in "warming" trays. No pastries. No options beside the buffet. No cheese among cold cuts. The supper restaurant menu lacks any no-dairy options that aren't deep fried. The mushroom risotto was available as vegan. I had never seen such an oily risotto. Drinks were available, but there wasn't an obvious bar area to mingle. The place has potential, but seems to be poorly managed and staff didn't seem happy to be there either."
"This is a tired old hotel and it’s not well run. It’s in a nice position but for 2 of our 3 nights, things weren’t really working. The kitchen was closed, the bar was serving warm beer and the bedroom was really cold. No one warned us in advance of any issues, which was frustrating. The staff are mostly young, and doing their best, but there was no sense of anyone taking responsibility. All of that might have been fine, if it had been much cheaper."
"Fantastic Georgian Inn on Main Street in Inverary. Big comfortable beds with nice clean rooms/bathrooms. Lovely assortment of hot and cold breakfasts and a good range of dinner menu.
Really friendly and helpful staff.
Our room overlooked Main Street and we were warned that a quiet room couldn’t be guaranteed as there was a wedding when we stayed. It was a little noisy late into the night, so take some ear plugs just in case!!"
