Uncomfortable rooms and expensive

I got a room on the first floor above the lobby with scaffolding in the window. After requests, they agreed to change to an identical room without scaffolding, when everyone walking on the street sees you in the room, at an exorbitant price of $350 per night. After a terrible night with noise from the lobby and the street, they moved me to another floor with a window facing an internal dark courtyard. The lobby staff is nice and helpful, but the hotel itself is not to my taste and I would not recommend it.

Great with older kids!

We did a quick in and out to NYC to visit some sites and family and found this hotel online a few weeks out. The King Suite with the futon was perfect for myself and my two older kids. It would be tight with littles but for a 10 and 7 year old it was perfect. The hotel is unique and gorgeous. It does feel super upscale when you walk in, and I would not say it's like built for families with small kids, but for older kids its literally perfect. Half a block to Herald Square trains, great deli and coffee shop on the corner. Also- the restaurant has a kids menu with...buttered noodles!! :) ( IYKNK). Also they have a parking deal with a lot a block and a half away.

Tumbs up to the Life Hotel!

We could not have been happier with our stay at the Life Hotel. The staff was helpful, courteous and pleasant. The room was good-sized for NYC, clean and comfortable with all the amenities you would want. The location was perfect for our activities ...easy to walk everywhere or take the subway. We will definitely stay here again!

Nice little spot near MSG

Got the cheapest room available, so I wasn't expecting the moon. Room contained a bed, a small writing desk and a chair, with a TV mounted on the wall. There was barely 2 feet around the sides of the bed, but enough to get around it without difficulty. Bathroom was nice with a mixture of new tub, sink and fixtures and old marble floor. Closet was narrow, but deep to hang clothes, with storage baskets in lieu of a dresser with drawers. Bed was comfortable. Mattress and pillows were plush. Through the wall air conditioner and radiator heat were available, but didn't need either for my stay. Never quite figured out how to program TV. Screen came up with a need for information I didn't have, like space number or property number and smart box serial number. Didn't use it, so didn't call down to ask. Would stay there again, especially for a Madison Square Garden event.

Nice place

It’s a really nice place ! The room is very clean and confortable. There are many excursions just near to the hotel. At the welcome desk, some people aren’t friendly when you don’t speak English perfectly.

Terrific location. The room was as warm and bright as in the pictures. Staff is helpful and friendly. This is why I prefer to stay in hotels with staffed reception desk.

Jacket Ruined by Wet Paint in Hotel Lobby

Our five-night stay was OK until the whole experience was ruined by an incident at checkout. The space in the hotel lobby and around the front desk is very tight. There are exposed steel columns painted black. When we were checking out, my jacket touched one of the columns and it was covered by oily black paint! Apparently they were painting the columns and did not bother to put up a wet paint sign! I was wearing a new blue puffed jacket and it is completely ruined with the right sleeve covered in black paint. I reached out to hotel management. They have since put up wet paint signs but offered no compensation for the damage to my jacket. It is a terrible experience. Other than that, the location is convenient but the guest room is very tight. Our window is facing directly an exterior stairway that we had to keep the shutters closed all the time.

good but bring earplugs

The service and the location were great. Everything was clean, and the room had a good shower. My only complaint is how noisy the room was. The windows didn't stop any of the street noise, and the radiator was so noisy every time it went off.
