2/10 Poor

Wouldn’t Stay again.

Blood stain on the sheets, no evening meals, things falling from the ceiling in the breakfast area, no tea out for breakfast, no pastries like advertised and very limited fruit options. Staff only doing their best as it only seemed to be one person to cover the desk and breakfast or the desk and the bar at any one time.
Holly, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Okay, but could do better

Beds well worn and uncomfortable - room had been refurbished but old beds reused as had dips in the middle
James, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

No Towels (shortage on towels lately was the answer I got from reception) No shower gel in room or reception Water ran out mid shower (probably good job as had no towel) Dirty socks on shower rail Room looks like has been preserved in time from the 1980s Avoid at all costs
Darren, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

The staff are super friendly and welcoming but the room is very dated, curtains hanging off so don’t completely close, cobwebs and generally cleanliness of room which is a real shame as the location is fantastic.
Sue, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Great location, classic building.

This is an old building so, if you like creaking floorboards and a warren of rooms, it is your sort of place. Conveniently located at the top of Tonbridge High Street, with car parking, it provides easy access to the surrounding area. Breakfast was excellent.

Nice place. Have stayed there a number of times.

Reasonably priced accommodation in main part of town. Period features which need a little TLC

Pleasant Stay

Pleasantly surprised after reading negative reviews. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was warm, clean and comfortable. Yes, the floors creaked but its what you would expect in an old building such as this. Plenty of hot water for bath/shower. However shower lost pressure due to lots of people showering at the same time each morning. There was a good choice for breakfast and cooked to order. Excellent location in the centre of town.
Alan, 2-night trip

Friendly staff, spotlessly clean just a bit tired

Staff were really nice and attentive, though surprised we only had one bath towel for two guests, hotel is just a bit tired and in need of some TLC though the rooms are spotlessly clean. Location is wonderful, Tonbridge is a lovely town

This is not a best western hotel

We booked last minute under the impression that this hotel was part of the best western group According to Various google searches But became very obvious upon arrival that the standards and decor were not what you would expect from a best western hotel Carpets were filthy, dusty surfaces , no plug which didn't matter as the sink took ages to drain away Mattress was uncomfortable and noisy due to springs Pre booked so felt we wouldn't get our money back if cancelled after checkin Very disappointing as the photos do not give a true impression of what was probably a nice coachhouse several years ago
Amanda, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Good location in centre of town. Facilities could do with an update as annex area dated and rooms need a refurb, although clean and had all things needed. Staff really friendly and helpful.
Jane, 1-night trip

Few problems

Booked us into room 14 which was cold. Spoke to reception who informed me that there was no heating in this room. Told them that we could not shower bathroom freezing and to sleep would be too cold. Very good and we got transferred to room 109 which was lovely but found out cold tap Didn’t work. No a hassle for us and room wax warm. Breakfast great and staff are friendly and helpful
Margaret, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Absolutely wonderful staff. Everyone very friendly and eager to help. Wonderful old building if you are in the old hotel section. On the day of our stay the hotel had issues with cleaning staff absences. Cleanliness was an issue, but resolved by reception promptly.
Imke, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Good value and situation.

Very good value in a good position near the castle. In the process of being upgraded I think, the restaurant only offered breakfast, which was good. There is a bar. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Could be better

Old building so expected some issues but shower was not good, I’m not tall and had to bob down to get showered and the temperature was impossible to get reasonable! Also not doing evening meals even tho the welcome pack in your room gives meal times for evening meals!? Room on Road front so noisy!
Scott, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Cosy place in heart of town

It was good, but a few niggles. Room was too hot, can’t be helped I suppose during a heatwave Shower was low pressure Other than that speedy, simple, nice
James, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Very comfortable. Only complaint is the number of stairs to get to the rooms caring luggage. Not suitable for the elderly even if not carrying luggage.

Elderly solo traveller

An overnight stay en route to the West Country. All members of staff were very helpful and Receptionist was welcoming and informative. The hotel and my room was comfortable, well appointed and clean. Being situated in the high street, the hotel is convenient for access to Tonbridge town centre, the park and castle and an ideal centre for exploring the local countryside. Highly recommended.
Carole, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

It was very convenient for local amenities and parking was good. The room was adequate but cold because the heating didn't work. The temperature of the shower was fixed and the bathroom light was temperamental.
Myra, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

I love staying at the Rose and Crown. It is an older building not a modern air conditioned office block style hotel but it has a charm and history. A fantastic location on the High Street to access shops bars and restaurants. I will be back - look forward
Paul, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

A stay with a step back in time.

The hotel itself has a real charm and character due to still having the oak panelling from its days as a coaching inn.Our room was excellent with a comfortable four poster bed.The staff were friendly and there is a good car park on site. The only negative was the shower not working so we had to take baths which wasnt very comfortable.
LEE, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Good location, but could use a facelift.

Wanted to stay in the historic building, but ended up in the annex behind, which had little personality. Hallways and rugs could use an upgrade and compared to the cheerful main building, our building was a let down. Loved location in center of town across from castle.
Cora, 4-night trip

Victoria Suite, with 4 poster bed review

We stayed in Victoria Suite, lovely bed, very comfortable. Bathroom nice and clean, but no water pressure in shower, unless on very hot. Carpet to bedroom needs proper clean, not just vacum. Really is a lovely room, would stay again, would give 5 stars, if not for minor issues noted above.
