So far so good

The room is just ok. The water pressure for the hot shower is not enough, especially in the winter time. Also, it is disappointed that the WiFi signal is poor in our room. Limited WiFi login account with 500MB limit only. Not a enjoyable stay but just ok if just spent one night in Auckland.

Very classy hotel

This is a very classic hotel. Hotel staff is very friendly. We booked a two bed room apartment suite, one of the only two in the hotel. So we have a lot of space and can do cooking etc all we want. The location is not the best choice in Auckland, but if you have a car and is heading to where you want to everyday straight from carpark then it's not so much of an issue.

I had an enjoyable four night stay at Surrey Hotel in Feb 2026. I had space and convenience which was fantastic. The ever helpful housekeeping staff went out of their way to provide me with coat hangers and a microwave which h was great. Very pleasant surroundings, close to local cafes and public transport. Swimming pool was average. Location in main building across the road and lack of changing facilities meant I only used it once during my stay.

We stayed in the motel room. Warm welcome. Tidy spacious room. Walking distance to shops and bus stops (and Western Springs). Close to motorway on and off ramps. Surrey Hotel Bar over the road - we happened to be there for the Quiz Night. Quiet relaxing atmosphere. Very enjoyable stay

This place is a little gem!! Our 4th time staying here. Family with young children. The rooms are always clean and functional with tea/coffee and toiletries etc. Although parts of the hotel appear run down in some areas…(just paint work etc, they really aren’t where it matters!! It also gives the hotel its character. Strong showers, great beds and pillows, spacious rooms. Very clean. Pool is always clean. Staff are super friendly. Restaurant is super handy and chef is so knowledgeable and accommodating. They will always have the sport playing if it’s on. Drinks and food reasonably priced. Parking is free and plentiful. There is a really nice bakery and Pizza Hut just 100m up the road if you need a snack or something extra for later. Highly recommend. Will book again for our next trip to AKL.

Nice size rooms. Plenty of tea and coffee but was hot and couldn’t get the cooling fan to work. Found a big white tail spider in the bed. Staff were very friendly.

The stay was short, but the reception was good and the room spacious. The aircon was dated, as was the bathroom, hence the four stars. Other than that, no complaints.

The hotel is older and quirky but the rooms are comfortable and clean. Unfortunately the people in the room before us smoked in the room, selfish!! So it reeked but that’s not the fault of the hotel and they were very apologetic. Couldn’t change rooms because everywhere was booked (Metallica!!) but with the help of a little fan thing and leaving the door open we got rid of the smell eventually. Staff were all lovely and super friendly. There was a shuttle that took us to Eden Park for Metallica at no extra cost which was awesome. Walk back in the rain was manageable especially after a few drinks haha. Would definitely stay again if we need to go to an event at Eden Park.
