Poorly Managed and Deeply Neglected Property
I booked a two-night stay at the Country Inn & Suites in Williamsburg for a family trip to visit Colonial Williamsburg and tour the College of William & Mary. Unfortunately, our experience with this hotel was extremely disappointing and far below the standards one would expect from this brand, especially in such a historic and welcoming community.
From the moment we arrived, the property gave off an air of neglect. The exterior was littered with cigarette butts, and weeds were growing out of the planters — a clear lack of basic maintenance and care. Our first impression worsened as soon as we stepped into the lobby, where we were greeted by an old, filthy-looking sofa that immediately made us question our choice.
The front desk agent, dressed in a flimsy t-shirt with unkempt hair, did not present a professional image, setting a troubling tone for the rest of our visit. After checking in and dropping off our luggage, we left for an appointment. It was only upon returning later that evening that we fully realized the extent of the property’s condition.
The carpets and rugs throughout the lobby and hallways were visibly dirty. Dust bunnies lined the stairs, indicating a serious lack of regular cleaning. The housekeeping carts were poorly stocked, and the overall cleanliness of the hotel was unacceptable.
