Disappointing.
For nearly £300 a night I expected more to be honest.
Lovely setting but lack of proper reception wasn’t good. No internal phone lines from the room, and even when ringing the landline from the room - nobody picked up.
The ceiling between the rooms was paper thin that every time the person above us rolled over in bed we could hear it, every footstep. Wasn’t great.
We ate in the restaurant and for only the second time in my life I had to send a dish back. £15 for a bowl of pasta needs to be good, it was terrible. I call the waitress over and said the dish wasn’t nice, she looked at it and immediately said “oh that looks dry”. I’m sure it had been sat out for 10 mins under a lamp whilst they did the other dish. They remade it but the second one was awful too, no flavour just mass amounts of chili - inedible. The waitress collected it, seeing that we hadn’t eaten it and just said “no good either? Sorry we’re introducing a new menu” and just took the plate away. No offer to reimburse, offer of a dessert or drink on the house, just took the plates so we decided to just leave at that point. There must have been only 5 tables eating in the whole restaurant so I’ve no idea how they go to so wrong.
In the 18 hours we were there we had spent £360 in total on just two guests and for that price and service it wasn’t good enough.
That was enough to put us off ever staying there again sadly, which is a shame because it could be fantastic.
