Beach was clean, sand wasn’t hot, water was clean, no rocks, shallow sea water- great for kids, great shades from palm trees, so much shade on property, great jungles in the middle of property. Easy access, enough parking spots, great service, clean and area, warm pool, lot pf activities and great evening shows. Food was good, lot of fruits and deserts. We traveled from March 6 to March 10. Overall, this is a great option for family budget friendly option. Like everything, it has pros and cons. The majority of the staff members were always kind and willing to help. We only stepped up with 2 staff members that made us feel they didn't want to work there but it'd be unfair to say service is not goos for only 2 people so, service is great. Cleanliness is really good, we dont have anything bad to say about it, it was consistently great everyday. The only down for the room was the A/C unit, it was too loud, like something was broken but still able to cool down our room so it was ok. Food was very good at "El Pajarito" the buffet restaurant. Speciality restaurants were ok, we tried all of them but the Italian and will visit again only the steakhouse since it was the only one that had an outstanding service. The rest of restaurants (Bloved, Spanish, Japanese and Mexican) made us wait 1 hour between appetizer and entrée so not good. We paid the upgrade to Privileged service that supposed to allowed us with special location at the beach, drinks service at the beach and better food at Bloved restaurant. However, we feel is not worth it because the only thing is the beach location, the food is better at the buffet to be honest and we were never offered drinks at the beach until the last day... so upgrade was not worth it. Shows are good and entertainment is great. Those staff members seriously put effort to keep overall experience.

It’s my second time in Catalonia and I love everything that they try to preserve and offer. The walk from lobby to the beach is amazing and relaxing you feel like you are in a jungle and at the beach. The wild animals, the birds. I love the palm trees at the beach and there is much beach room and shade and chairs you don’t have to worry about not finding a place to sit. The food is really good. Limited options but everything is edible. I love their house wine and coffee place. I wish they had more sea food options like crab, shrimps and crawfish on the grill. It’s become one of my favorite places.

Très bel hôtel, calme, propre, joli et personnel très agréable. Plage magnifique ! Même complet on n’a pas la sensation d’être submergés par la foule. Le plus, une faune locale trop mignonne ! Le seul bémol, c’est très compliqué de réserver les restaurants à la carte mais l’offre reste largement suffisante au buffet et autour de la piscine. Un séjour au top pour toute la famille ! Merci

Best with a few fixable wrinkles

This was our 8th stay at Catalonia and we plan to go back next year. The pluses: perfect location, beautifully groomed and landscaped grounds, no golf or gambling, attracts visitors from around the globe, fantastic staff gorgeous beach (when there is not sargasum grass), generous rooms, varied food choices, excellent guest services. Minuses: A/C in rooms is uneven, food is in some restaurants could be upgraded. Deafening assultative and unnecessary loud music at the pool with the bass at an unacceptable volume damaging to the hearing of children and adults. Great juice bar at the pool and great espresso in several locations. Beautiful walking path through a jungle landscape between the beach and the reception area and bar/coffee bar. We plan to return next February.

We booked our stay at Catalonia along with a small group of family members. My girlfriend (now wife) and I had a beautiful wedding on the beach (thanks to our wedding planner Paloma) and it was truly a magical moment. This resort lived up to everything we could possibly want. The food was great, the white sand beaches were pristine with beautiful blue/green water, nice pools, bartenders that pour tequila liberally, friendly staff with endless smiles, and wildlife that kept the kids and adults amused all the time. The coatis (Mexican raccoon) are everywhere and are harmless. We also saw a spider monkey with a baby on her back that was priceless. We can hardly wait to come back to this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

We came here to celebrate my 40th bday. When we booked we upgraded to the privileged superior suit, high recommend. When we checked in our 1st room it was less than expected, no hot water, or pressure and both night stands were broken. We talked to the front desk who said they would send someone to look at everything but nothing happened. So we later requested a room change which was provided to us, but we had to wait until 3. Your guest service agent on property Alfonzo was amazing. Alfaonzo ap us at the pool to make sure everything was going well with our stay and we informed him about the room. From that moment we didn’t have to worry about anything, he made contact with the front desk and housekeeping to make sure everything was going smoothly with the cleaning and ability to get the new room without having to waste any of our vacation time. He was awesome and made the whole room change experience easy. I’d like to give him a huge thank you because he really saved the beginning of our trip. Once we got into our new room the a/c wasn’t working but again Alfonzo was able to get someone up right away to fix it and it was up and running within 10 min. After that everything was perfect! Better than I expected and more than I could have hoped for. Your staff is amazing, I took the water gym class every day and the staff hosting all the activities were top knotch, fun and engaging Bernabe & Alejandra at Beloved were our favorit staff, they were amazing. The beach is perfection!
