The biggest issue we had was booking via Hotel.com it’s not clear on the website that the rooms have a shared bathroom, which puts it on par with something like a youth hostel . It’s really not what you expect. All you get from Hotels.com is an email shortly before the stay , but not enough to cancel and rebook , telling you that the rooms are shared toilet/bathroom . After a long drive down it’s too late to change your mind. The place would have been better if the rooms had an en-suite. As it’s shared the bathroom isn’t that clean, there’s towels in the bathroom that you don’t really want to use . It’s reasonably clean but has signs of other users so not really expected and not up to standard of a 3-star my opinion . Staff are friendly and it’s a nice enough pub. The room was nice . A simple refurb to have an en-suite would have worked .

Very friendly welcome from staff. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The shared bathroom was fine as there was only me and 2 others staying, but if all 6 rooms were occupied with only one bathroom it wouldn’t be great. For the price, it was great value for money and gave me everything I needed for one night.

I arrived just before 6pm to find my room wasn’t ready, so I waited in the bar. When I finally got in, the room was okay but lacked basic in‑room amenities—there were no cups or kettle, as these are kept in a separate kitchen, which was sparsely stocked. Although I knew the bathroom was shared, I was surprised there was no sink in the room. There were also cobwebs that hadn’t been cleaned, and the door didn’t feel secure; it kept banging in the wind overnight until I wedged it shut. Breakfast must be pre‑ordered the night before, so I missed out. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and dinner was passable.
