We really liked the place. It has a solid, unique charm about it and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We had the double bed room with images of Gandhi on the wall and liked the overall vibe of our room and the corner views out our windows. It would have been nice if the windows had opened for some ventilation, but I understand they're historic and have probably been sealed shut for a reason. Though we couldn't have natural ventilation, the air conditioning unit for our room was absolutely one of the best and quietest we encountered on our entire trip! Loved that!
The bathroom in that room is pretty tight. We're relatively fit and trim so did ok, but heavier people might find it too confining.
Recommendations for the hotel owners:
fix the toilet paper holder in the two bed unit on the 3rd or 4th floor because rolls of paper tend to fall off and hit the floor.
come up with some way to support the wash basin in that bathroom. It is used by people maneuvering in the tight space to sit on the toilet. There've obviously been leaks and maintenance problems with it along the way, and one day one of your guests may leverage a little too hard on it, break it and fall or get hurt. I'm sure there's a better solution for that sink. :-)
There was some sort of cleaning product that made the tile floors super slick - to the point of fall-on-your-butt slick. Whatever that product was, it transferred to bare feet very easily so there was a lot of it. A safer product would be great!.
