Good location for its purpose

It’s close to Jamaica Station to the AirTran, and if you take a taxi to JFK. I would not recommend walking through neighborhood at night to take the Airtarain in Jamaica Station, but if you want to save money it’s a good stay.

Good hotel for short stay

The hotel was clean and quiet. The room service left something to be desired. However, the person at the front desk was very helpful and called a cab to get me to the airport at a reasonable price. One thing I didn't like about this hotel. It was advertised as a place with shuttle service to the airport then found out it had none.Kudos for the person at the front desk on 4/25/2025 for his help.

Good overall for the price. Would stay again!

For the price, the place is a gem! Very happy with things overall. The sheets weren’t washed, pen marks on the fitted sheet and bleach stains on the blanket. Garbage under the bed, but I remained thankful for the location and price. You do get a nice little bag for breakfast. Staff was nice and friendly. Let us check in for 30.00 early.

Never again.

The room was always cold even with the heater on so we had to sleep with our own extra blankets. There is NO complimentary breakfast. There is NO parking. Housekeeping only came after asking the lobby hist if we could get more towels. The floors have no carpet, so like i was saying about the cold, FREEZING!! No microwave in the room. This place is only good for one night quick stays..

Convenient for AirTran rider and near Jamaica shopping area; a working desk in the room but no chair, charging 5 dollar for leaving one piece of luggage which is acceptable since no locker nearby.

POOR SERVICE- ready to SCAM you out of cash!

Check-in was a mess. First, someone called me from the hotel about 130 p.m., demanding that I tell them when I would be arriving or my room would be canceled. I flew there only to be told by the desk guy that he didn't call and must have been the manager. THEN, he wouldn't let us check in because it wasn't 3 p.m., and he said he would charge me $30 per person to check in early! SCAM!!!! they should not participate in HOTELS.com , they dont want those rates and try to get $$ from customers on site!!

Essence Hotel at JFK does not look like the photo.

This is not a photo of the rooms. The carpet was dirty and smelled bad. No one was at the front desk and we waited over 20 min before someone came down, they had cameras and I know they saw us waiting in the lobby. The bathtub had mold around the sides. The room smelled stale. Would not stay there again.

OK stay but ....

The credit card machine is broken and they ask for manual input with pen and paper of credit card information to book a room. OR they will photo copy your credit card. Unacceptable and a big red flag these days. Who knows who has access to this information after you leave.
