This was my first time staying in a hostel, and I had no idea how to check in. They sent the key details by email, but when I tried to contact them for clarification, I didnât get any response. So I followed the instructions in the email and went there. By the time I arrived at 8:30 PM, there was no front desk available.
The room key information I received was very confusing and hard to understand. Luckily, I managed to ask someone there for help, and we guessed it together. It turned out that the four-bed female room with a private bathroom I had booked was located right next to the kitchen.
On the first night, from around 11 PM until after midnight, and again from 4 AM to 6 AM, it felt like being in a marketplace. While I was trying to sleep, I kept hearing a china group of people talking loudly and noisily.
The next day, I asked the front desk if I could change rooms, but they were unable to help. Surprisingly, they told me the only option was to downgrade to a lower room type.
Fortunately, I only booked two nights, and the second night was much quieter. However, I was really surprised that a four-bed female dorm room would be placed right next to the kitchen. I hope the hostel can at least put up a friendly reminder in the kitchen area to be mindful that there are guest rooms nearby.
