Basic hotel. Room was clean and functional but corporate looking. Soulless. Breakfast was basic too. Wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant but it was completely empty on a bank holiday weekend so that was a red flag. Location perfect but parking first come first served. Will not stay again.

Connaught Lodge

Only stayed one night and everything was excellent but if I was staying longer the room is small and bathroom even smaller! This was not a problem for me, I suspect it would be for someone who is larger than 5’4” and 9 stone! Anyone booking a single room should bear this in mind. Apart from that the room was lovely and exceptionally clean, the bed extremely comfortable and bedding crisp and fresh white cotton. Breakfast was amazing.

Nice weekend stay

Had a good stay at the Connaught Lodge. We were visiting with some friends so booked 2 rooms and check-in was smooth, apart from there being quite a big queue at the check-in desk. Staff were very friendly and helpful. As some previous reviews have stated, the rooms in the lodge are a little outdated and could do with some freshening up (repainting, replacing old furniture etc). However, they were still pleasant to stay in and had all the basic amenities required, including air conditioning. A note on accessibility, there was also only 1 small lift in the lodge building which only really had enough room for 1 person and 1 suitcase. The main building of the hotel is lovely and we really enjoyed using the bar and spa facilities. 2 of us also had spa treatments at the Bluewater Cottage which is within the car park area. The breakfast was great, both in terms of taste and selection, and both mornings we found we were able to get a table straight away. Overall, this is a good hotel which is in an ideal location for reaching the main attractions of Bournemouth. To become great, I feel they need to modernise and clean up the rooms a bit.

location is good but rooms need updating and cleaning, chiped paintwork on walls and skirting boards. parking spaces are very small and would struggle to park there at peak times.

Excellent staff and facilities!

Down visiting friends and family, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The leisure facilities were excellent with a well laid out facilities plan with only one problem of having to find the toilets which were separate from the changing rooms, and found at the end of the corridor on the right hand side. As for the room itself, it was clean and tidy with an air-con unit when it gets too hot. There was a stain on the duvet cover (a small one but nothing serious) and the same again on the carpet. Room walls were thin, so it was easy to overhear personal conversations in the rooms next door when the volume becomes excessive. The only major gripe I had is the hotel was made up of two separate buildings and we weren't in the main building. Had the weather been inclement, with no means of getting from one building to another, staying dry in the process would have been impossible and having an orangery or covered bridge / veranda would be beneficial.

Enjoyable stay

Enjoyable stay, lovely to have the pool and spa. Breakfast was good too. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were very flat. The bathroom was huge but the limescale in the sink was a bit off putting. Staff all very friendly.

Firsly Id like to highlight positives about our stay. firstly that the staff were brilliant. All provided very good service. Especially Tom running the gin bar, he was very knowledgeable, and a young girl at breakfast with dark hair & glasses who was working so hard, and always was friendly and smiling. Now onto the bad. The pictures listed on hotels.com show a building that is in fact the connaught hotel. This is a different accommodation to the connaught lodge. The connaught hotel is where reception, pool & breakfast is. the communal areas are very well presented in this building. The connaught lodge is actually in a seperate building which is very run down. when i say run down, i mean hasnt seen a lick of paint for at least 20 years. The whole building smells. There are sofas scattered around the hallways that are very old & covered in stains. We were originally allocated room 201, but we requested to be moved as the room was not nice. we were moved to 209, a much bigger room. But, the room is a health and safety nightmare. It stunk of damp, the bathroom was full of black mould. My partner has asthma and the damp plus mould made him wheezy. thankfully we were only staying 2 nights. Bedside tables have glass tops that arent attached, so could cause injury. The windows were mouldy and the handles barely stuff funcional. Bathroom handle was dodgy. There was wee stains down the outside of the toilet. No cold water in the bathroom only hot, not great when brushing your teeth.

Bed was comfy, room was dirty dust everywhere hairs all over the bathroom sink, no phone in room, no iron, no soap in bathroom to was hands walls quite thin so could hear people in the rooms near byhowever overall noise of the hotel was quiet.
