We don't get away very often and finding an affordable price with Astor, made our trip possible. The rooms were clean with communal spaces to; mingle, pay games, watch movies, plus a communal kitchen. However we chose to stick to our room as we planned as most of our time would be spent in the city. A easy walk to the city centre plus a bus for those that struggle right out side the hostel. Tea and coffee facilities were in the room, along with a shower/washroom. The area was nice and quiet, we were on the top floor (which may of helped) but the atmosphere was welcoming and peaceful. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and we were happily surprised with our stay at Astor. Thankyou again Astor hostel!

From the moment we arrived to the very last hour spent at the Astor, was an absolutely wonderful experience. We loved Patrick, he checked us in so smoothly, giving us a wealth of information, advice and so much care and compassion. We love the whole building, the communal areas are so carefully thought out, designed to support your needs, gifting you space to relax and spend quality time. Our room was just lovely, we had everything we could need. The lovely communal areas and the kitchen dining area is fabulous, so much so that we have already secured our next visit and stay, and we can't wait to get there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen is very spacious and they have everything I need. I loved the common areas as it’s very cozy and comfortable. Dorms are clean and neat. Met some new friends here and I would come back if I were to visit York again. Highly recommended!

My stay here was perfect for someone who was just having a night out with mates. I went to the football at 3 and checked in around 6pm seamlessly. I had an allocated bed in the dormitory and it was still vacant when I arrived in at 4am. Check out was 1030 and issueless. All in all a perfect place to stay right near the city centre for those who just need a bed for a few hours on a night out. This place really is a hidden gem. The En Suite was huge with toilet, bidet, shower and separate bath. If I ever have a family event in York again I would consider getting a whole dorm if available for the family!

My 2nights stay in Astor while in York was amazing. Its just 15-20min walk from citycenter, and everything you need is avail there like bar, common kitchen and lounge. The bfast for 3£ was really good, you can have whatever you like. I stayed in 4bedroom female, on my 1st night we were only 3 and my last night I got to own the whole room. And it was clean. You just need to share the room and amenities with others but the price is just right if youre looking for a budget hostel or a trip with a tight budget and if its ok with you sharing with others. And you can meet other guests staying there, they are friendly and the staffs as well. You cant really have privacy inside the room since its sharing but good thing my roomates were nice. There's also some noise from other room late at night so be sure to have earplugs. Overall, my stay there was awesome!
