"One of the best and safest Hotel/Resort in Chiapas. We stayed 5days total. The best part of the Mundo Maya Hotel? You are immersed in nature and surrounded by the jungle. My daughter loves animals and the primary reason we chose this hotel. We saw 4 colorful macaws flying by while eating breakfast at the restaurant terrace, saw howler monkeys, a gigantic owl butterfly landed on her head, tarantula, geckos etc too many to list. The sound of the crickets at night is magical and seeing the stars sitting by the pool was beautiful. My daughter and I had nightly walks around the hotel with our flashlight looking for insects along their lighted wooden pathways. The hotels also has a mayan burial site close to the spa area. The hotel is conveniently located across the ticket office of the Palenque Ruins. The resort has bike rentals too if you prefer to use that to visit the ruins.
This resort is new and just opened April 2025. Everything is new, clean and well maintained. This is an incredible hotel being owned by the government and is a national gem! The resort employs Mexican National Guards as their security team. The lobby area has billiards, fusbol, and pingpong (which we enjoyed playing many times a day). The pool area is beautiful and clean. Our room was cleaned daily. Hot shower works each time. TV remote was complicated to use. Wifi was great only at the lobby area.
Food at their restaurant had good variety of western and Chiapaneco food but was mediocre in general."
