Cozy Inn Otaru
8/10 Good
"The room is spacious and clean.
It’s about a 5-minute walk to a local morning market and nearby grocery stores.
I had expected a washing machine in the room or building, but there isn’t one. Luckily, there’s a coin laundry just a 3-minute walk away, which is very convenient—especially on a nice sunny day."
"I would not said that it is a premium hotel.
We have drive in our car and missed the notice that we need to announce the reception first. I believe that notice should be placed in another prominent place in English. In our experience, we just need to park somewhere easy for us and after some procedure we can park in a right place.
The lady must be scared that we will not move our car after that she ran to our car suddenly. And we asked her is that ok to park here. Her answer was "No. You canʻt" I thought that Japanese has a more euphemistic way to talk. Obviously we was wrong.
The lady who help us to check-in was a normal one.But I can said that she is likely to be the only one showed polite to us. I can raise another example is the boy who was on training. He glance us up and down during our check-in. And after we came back he was really nice to two local ladies.
If you ask me, I would not suggest this hotel to any foreigner. They are only ready to serve their locals. It might be the reality in Japan right now. But these is the only hotel shows that they are unpleasant to serve any foreigner in front of us. How can we call them premium??They might not even call hotel for me. "
"Hotel Nord Otaru is located across the street from the canal. It has a good view of the canal, but the ocean view is far away and unimpressive. The rooms are dated. Our shower room smelled like mildew and there was some visible mold on the ceiling. The room size is larger than typical for Japan. The breakfast buffet was mediocre but convenient. The Hokkaido ramen was good. The bar upstairs had a nice ambiance but they were out of several types of alcohol and their signature cocktail. It’s about an 11 minute walk to Otaru Station and about 28 minutes to the Mount Tengu Ropeway. "
"OMO5 is a great base for exploring the city. Just steps from the Otaru Canal and surrounded by shops and restaurants, the location is perfect. Clean, modern rooms and friendly staff made the stay easy and comfortable. Would happily stay again."
