Fascinating area. We drove to and walked to two areas around Mono Lake. They were easy access even with snow on the ground. Well maintained and marked. The hostess at the visitor center in town was helpful and informative.

It's a small town on Mono Lake. Not too many places open late. U.S. Highway 395 goes right through town, so expect to hear the sound of some traffic, particularly semi trucks, close by. It is not enough to keep one awake at night, though.

Sits right at highway 395. Bit busy. There are nice places to eat, especially Jolly Cone. Good spot to use as nasecamp for further adventures.

With the town not totally out of winter time, there were few options for an evening meal.
"Lovely property and staff. There is no air conditioning which is slightly uncomfortable at night if you like it nice and cool. However, the property is nice enough that I’d stay there again despite no air conditioning."
"A great, cosy and welcoming stay! Staff were friendly and always eager to help with anything we needed. Bathrooms (we had the shared bathroom) were SO CLEAN! "
"It was a nice hotel. They have underground parking. The rooms are well maintained. We enjoyed the breakfast the most! We stayed here before we headed to Yosemite. My suggestion is to also explore the area if aren’t planning on already. It is a beautiful place. "
